Im looking at repainting my saleen s/c unit before install next month. Ive searched on here to see, couldnt find anything, tried google too, nothing. Im sure somebody with one has done it before. I was wondering what paint i need to use. I was looking at VHT at Advance Auto, but i couldnt find red or silver colors that I need. Im pretty sure ill need to use some time of high heat resistant paint for it just not too sure what i need to use. Thanks. Heres a pic of the top and what im trying to re do.

That would be cool to see. Any links or pics to share??

Just curious about PC'ing a part that has a current PC coat. Does it need to be stripped?

Yes. They sandblast the part and then coat it again.

hmmmm interesting. Have to look into that. But then again I dont feel really comfortable giving somebody the whole s/c unit. Afraid some dumbass working could drop it or something and i dont want to take the top off bc it just got re-sealed when i bought it. But ill have to look into it to see. Thanks guys

You need to powdercoat it. I will be powdercoating Jasons Saleen Supercharger Lid Vista blue to match his Saleen Intake. I can do yours as well if your interested.

Find a reputable shop. Most large powdercoating places will regularly do exhausts, headers, wheels, engines, etc...they are usually very good about not breaking things. I've had no issues in my experience and the result will be infinitely better than just spraying paint on it.

With the heat being generating off the superchager and the constant flexing and what not powdercoating will be the only way to go. Just spraying it will ruin your $6000 supercharger. Spend the extra coin and doin it right.

I did mine 3 years ago (almost 25K miles) using Rustoleum Metallic Black, sanding the original paint smooth. It has held up just fine, plus I just had some extra work airbrushed on the lid. This unit saw 90 miles around Watkins Glen at 150+ with no issues. Powder coating is probably preferable, but I wanted the entire unit done. That would require complete dis-assembly and new seals. Mine was completely apart for porting, but I didn't want to fill it full of sand and the rear shaft seals would be challenging.

Here's one of my friends done by Lucky Luciano in Phoenix, painted in the car's engine bay without removing the lid. The guy did all the paint for him and showed the car at SEMA this year.
