The stock crank is plenty strong. It makes absolutly no sense to me to spend the money and change it for a stroker crank for a only 6 cubes!

Yeeeah I don't know about that myself...

I think I rather just throw in a set of pistons/rods and leave the piston speed where it is.

Then crank up the boost, it will make more then enough power.

Its a waste of time and money to change out a strong crank for 6 cubes. If i was getting 30 cube or so Id do it (not sure its possible with the 5.0 setup). 6 cubes is not going to make much more power. Only way I think its useful is if you hurt the stock crank and had to purchase a new one anyway.

But thats not a stroker crank. Thats just a .030 over 302 block.

I came from the pushrod SBF world...LOL I had a 427 SBF with a 101mm Turbo on it. I hurt my fair share of parts. Blew a cylinder head almost in half on the dyno...lol

but its not a waste of time to swap to better pistons and rods... you have the motor down anyway.. just the way i look at it, get what you can get out of it... that Fox is nice!

I don't see the point in this. Sounds like a lot of money for a very small gain.

I agree that the rods and piston swap is not a waste if you are making good power. But Id leave the crank alone. The stock crank will take 1000hp+ there is no reason to change it.

Thanks, had a ton of time and money into that thing. I should have never sold it! Won true street at atco with it in 2007. Blew the tires off in 2009 and went 9.00's @ 172mph. LOL

i know the feeling, i had a 1995 GT that i still miss... 9.00's at 172 is moving!

first of the year i'll be buying a 5.0L coyote... gonna put a small kit on it until i can get the money to buy a root blower for it.. i was going to buy a blower for my 3V but i can just throw a kit on the 5.0L and go faster 3V stock to 5.0L stock...

Because every combination possible has been tested to the extreme in the few months they've been out? :omfg: It's definitely a good part but get off the soap box please.

It's "worth" what someone is willing to pay, "worth" is a relative term to the users desired end result.

Its a forged steel crank, it will take a ton of power. I dont care if people buy a stroker crank and machine the block for 6 cubes. I personally think its a waste. I know its worth what someone is willing to pay, what does that have to do with swapping out a strong factory crank?

Nice job Livernois, regardless of the small difference in cubic inches he is still giving you the option to customize the motor to your likely including the CR which is an issue with those looking to go Fi
