My motor went the Mod Heaven on March 6, 2011. Since then, her body has been preserved in the new garage that I just got done building. As she lays at rest, I have been asking question after question and pestering a couple of locals (members of this forum) and thanks guys for answering all my questions. I have pretty much came up with my build list, so I figured I would go ahead and start this thread. It will take a while to get everything in and built as I am a poor college student (graduating this May). I'm hoping to be somewhere around 650-700rwhp. I'm currently at 483 with my current mods (60#injectors, kooks lt, O/R x pipe, Ford Racing TB, KB 2.6@10psi, MSD cops, sct 90mm maf, kb bap, custom tune).

Builders helping to make all this happen:

Motor: John @ Modular Performance
Heads: Ron @ Fox Lake Racing
Install: Dave (GiJoe)

Here are the new goodies that will help make her come back to life.

MOTOR: Stroked Boss 50 Big Bore (324ci)

Kellogg crank
Diamond pistons
Manley Rods
ARP rod bolts
Comp Cams127300
Comp springs/retainers
arp main and head bolts
Baker breather can
8 rib kit
IW 10% UD crank
80# injectors
gt500 pumps
kb dual bap
oil filter relocation kit
repaint valve covers
braided lines

Tranny:
Keeping my stock 5speed w/ Spec III clutch (lets see how long it lasts)
Upgrading the hydro. clutch line

Suspension:
BMR extreme anti roll kit
BMR lca's

Interior:
Center dash pod and air vent gauge holders
AEM EUGO wideband gauge
PLX AIT gauge
AEM Oil Pressure gauge
I will be reusing my fuel pressure and boost gauges

How did you afford all that as a college student? What fuel system are you going to use? Driveshaft? You're going to need an 8 bolt flywheel and upgraded clutch. if you wait to do the 6060 you can save on having to buy 2 different clutches.

You will need every supporting mod in the book to make 650-700rwhp with that 2.6L kb. Realisticly tou will be around 600rwhp with this build. If you want more I would go for ST sheet metal intake and the biggest tb you can get. Also will most likely want to upgrade the heat exchanger.

Your gonna need a least a 2 pump setup and bap for your goals and least 60lb injectors you have, i would stick with them and see where that gets you. As you will soon find that a build like this is going to start costing more and more money left and right. (i run 60lb injectors and twin 255lph ford gt pumps with a 40amp bap and made 650rwhp and that about the limit for my fuel setup.)

There is no need at all for a larger oil pan on our cars unless you just want it. Our capacity is already 6 quarts+ and the stock oil pan has a factory windage tray. If you add a 7 quart pan the car is going to take 8quarts+ to fill.
My car takes 7 quarts to fill already with just a slighter bigger oil filter and relocation kit.

Also get yourself a ford 3v gasket kit for when you put everything back together.

Nice looking build however I don't think you will be close to 700 without nitrous. My guess would be somewhere in the ~615-625 range. It's going to be sick no matter what numbers you make though.

Thanks for all the input...As far as my numbers, I based them on this...The KB is a very very efficient twin screw. From doing research, I should be able to easily hit 23psi. I will be running a 10% UD crank which will let me do a slightly larger SC pulley so it wont get as hot. So going by the average HP per 1psi, I should get about an extra 169hp going from 10psi to 23psi. You normally gain 10-15hp per pound so I averaged a middle number. Also, the cam Im running should net around 30-40hp. So, my current hp(483) plus the new hp should be right around 692. If Im doing this completely wrong, just let me know. Maybe I have my hopes up too much? I guess we will find out when its all said and done and its on the dyno.

Looking forward to the build. It's going to be sick. I learn so much from build threads it's great.

What kind of fuel are you running? I would say that is going to be your biggest limiter of what you can do depending on what fuel your using. 23lbs with a 9.5:1( I think thats what the jdm is correct me if I'm wrong) block and pump gas sounds like a bomb.

No problem man, looks like its gonna be a badass setup so just trying to throw out as much advice as I can.

Its a good formula, but it doesnt exactly work like that, especialy not on a belt driven twin screw blower, they have efficencey ranges. Those formula's works to a certain degree ie. 8-15psi range but then it becomes diminishing returns as you approach blower rpm limits and flow limits. Dont get hung up on how much boost you make, its a measure of restriction on your setup every setup is going to vary in this aspect. If you do hit 20psi those last couple psi realisticly will only be getting you a few extra hp.

Also what are you going to rev too? This will play a big role in your peak hp and boost as well.

Wow... 23PSI out of a 2.6! Your going to be pushing that bastard hard. I hope it is a 2.6H at least. May want to think about switching over to a 2.8H. More power per pound of boost and cooler IAT's to boot. Also, with either you are going to need to be spot on with your pulley alignment and at LEAST a 8 rib setup. May want to talk to Adam@ST about his stand alone belt system. If he ever finished that?

Sorry to read that you lost your engine. I have a fully built engine with stage III cams and heads running the ST inlet and direct drive system. I have 609rwhp through a built 4R70W. My reason for posting is to tell you what you will need to do 650rwhp with the 2.6l KB. Your trans will have less loss than mine so I guess if I was on a stock manual I would have dyno'ed around 645rwhp. At this level (17 pounds of boost) the KB is close to done as the IAT's start getting out of control.

The real question is what do you want to do with 650rwhp? I ran 10.64 at 128 with the car pulling timing starting at the 1/8 mile. I made a bunch of changes to lower the iat's but th track closed before I was able to test them. I a couple of weeks I will be back at the track and expect to run 10.3's. I now have a small shot on the car and bet it will run 10.0 or 9.9 when I spray.

Well I got the 8 rib kit in today. I will also be getting my IW 10% UD crank pulley soon. I also talked to kelly over at BMR and should have my extreme anti roll kit and boxed LCA's soon. I will go ahead and get the suspension all done while its up on jackstands.

I also found a spare block that I may buy and build from scratch. Right now, Im trying to find the most cost efficient way to build this thing.

I also spoke with the original owner of the car tonight and he gave me some insight of the fuel system that is in the car. I was under the assumption that the car had 60# injectors, but they are really only 39# injectors from what he said (the ones that come with the kb kit) and does not have the gt500 pump in the back. So it looks like I will have to get those upgraded.

Yeah gt500 pumps and 60lb injectors are going to be must to reach the power levels you want to get too.

Also you might want to think about the heat exchanger upgraded. I noticed with my when I gas on it the temps go up like crazy. I can watch it on the gauge increase when in boost. You know I run a 6 gallon tank, upgraded pump and afco dual pass H/E with fans. It still makes crazy heat.
