Does anyone know if the roof on the 2005-2009 S197 is the same as the roof on the 2010-2011 S197? I can get a deal on a carbon fiber roof for a 2010+ and since its the right amount of money I was curious to know if this is the same roof on a 2005-2009.

Disclaimer: The carbon fiber roof is purely cosmetic and is going towards a theme I'm in pursuit of. I understand that this could be considered a poor buy, but please just assist me with my question. lol.

It's the same roof, that's the only body panel they kept identical between 2009 and 2010

How does it attach to the car? I understand that a fender or hood simply bolts on but I have no clue how you would do this with the roof??

awesome. please post info on the piece u are getting and installation if u can! thanks!

@s8v4o: u have to remove front and rear windshields then cut off the roof and attach the carbon roof with epoxy.

The piece is like a whole carbon fiber piece that attaches to the existing roof, so its not actually taking the place of the stock roof. It's just a cosmetic detail, and does not function at all as a lightweight piece, or any type of weight reduction.

Gotcha, thanks. Seems kinda scary. I wonder if it has tabs with holes that way you can possibly "bolt" it in as well after some drilling. Along with using epoxy as well. Perhaps the epoxy itself is plenty strong. I had a roof skin replaced in my SVO but it was welded :)

Food for thought ... http://www.body-kitz.com/contents/en-us/d195.html Might as well add these to the list!

are you going with the ASD carbon roof? Yes the roof is the same.

I'd be really interested in one of those! Do you know where I can get one, ASD Motorsports don't appear to be listing them anymore?

I've email ASD Motorsports to see if I can still order one from them, even though it's no longer listed.

Just received from Dave at ASD Motorsport:

"We do offer them still. We have all the body panels for 2010+ Mustangs. The roof is the same between all Mustangs from 05+. The roof is $899 plus freight to you."

"The weight of the CF roof is approx 5-6lbs. The stock roof skin is 16lbs. They are actually quite easy to swap. You have to remove the front and rear glass/windows, as well as the rain rails on top. Then you drill out the spot welds that hold in the metal roof, replace with the CF roof, and reinstall the rest of the parts in the reverse order. We run a bead of black 2 part epoxy between the CF roof and the chassis to ensure a good seal when used in street car applications. We also drill the CF roof and chassis to accept aluminum rivets along the sides to ensure a secure fitment. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to help."

Seems like a good idea!

Anybody know what the difference in CF doors versus stockers? Or perhaps the rear decklid?

I haven't come across carbon fiber door skins but I know a carbon fiber trunk will weigh a couple of pounds less. Not a significant loss but still would look good, if done right.

i have been looking for real world examples of the dry carbon trunk. I cant find anyone with the dry carbon trunk on any mustang forums, or even pictures of it on the car. So i am still hesistant to get it.
