With UC you probably want to use some sort of a finishing polish like M205. It's not necessary since UC is a diminishing polish, but it's recommended for a nice finish. Swirl-X is probably the most abrasive diminishing polish that I would use without a follow up with a fine polish. UC is more abrasive than Swirl-X, and it's really pushing it to use it without a follow up fine polish.

Are you talking about doing this all by hand? Everyone needs a DA buffer, period. Doing this sort of thing by hand is like painting your house with a Q-tip, you can do it, but it's a lot easier to use a paint brush.

Is the blackfire sealant the best you recommend? I seen you mentioned it in another post so i purchase it lol.

For the PC pads, what colors should i use for polish, sealant, wax?

BlackFire Wet Diamond is proven to be one of the longest lasting sealants out there. It's a "show" sealant, so it has a very nice finish. I love it.

I use the Hydrotech LC pads which are more versatile than normal LC pads. They also hold more product at the surface and don't waste as much product as standard pads.

I use Cyan for heavier cutting (M105) and Tangerine for finishing polish (M205) If I'm using something in the middle like Scratch X or Ultimate Compound, I use either or depending on how much cut I need.

For applying Sealant I use the Hydrotech Crimson pads now, but I used to use either blue or black LC fine finishing pads.

I apply wax by hand, primarily.

Okay, I've been reading through this thread and the numerous others in this forum.

I've neglected my car for almost 2 years now with only quick washing it by hand. I have tons of swirls in the paint, some marring on the deck lid, and tons of other light scratches and whatnot.

I need to know what exactly I need to purchase, actual items listed, to correct this. I know I'm buying a porter cable, but I need to know pads, polishes, sealants, waxes (I know everyone has differing opinions on these) to get me started.

I plan to buy new materials to wash the car with: two bucket method, grit guard, new washing pads, electric blower, etc.

Where I get overwhelmed is all the pads for the porter cable and the polishes I would need.

Personally, I like to keep it simple.

M105 with Hydrotech Cyan pads to get rid of the problems
M205 with hydrotech Tangerine pads to finish down smooth
Blackfire Wet diamond with Hydrotech Crimson pads for a sealant
Natty's blue or red hand applied for your wax

Get either 5" or 6" backing plate and pads to match the size. 5" is probably the better choice.

Excellent. I want it as simple as it possibly can be. This is what I'll try first. Thanks!

Using a dishwashing liquid or citrus based cleaner to strip the old wax before you clay is important because the clay bar will not do a complete job of cutting or removing the wax....correct?

I do it that way. I think Nasty says that the Clay bar will remove the wax as well, and I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. I know they will remove some wax for sure, just haven't tried it personally without removing all the wax with a citrus cleaner first. I just like to go ahead and get as much of it off by washing it as I can first so I know I'm starting with a good wax free surface in the first place.
