I still think he should test for a vacuum leak. No brakes would have to be a fairly large leak.

I went over my build in my head and even reviewed the .pdf and man I don't remember coming even remotely close to disconnecting any vacuum lines other than the obvious blowby stuff. Whoever did his install would of had to have been tearing crap out in a wreckless manner to disconnect the brake booster line. LOL!

It very well could be a vacuum leak, but dang that some wreckless installing. Stevie Wonder could have done this install without knocking those lines loose. LOL

Make sure your battery cables are tightened down real good. Other than this, and what I've already suggested, I'm spent.

I had the same issue as the op. No brakes along with a barely idling car that threw codes. I had knocked the brake booster line off during a clutch install but it could just as easily get knocked off while wrestling with a valve cover. The thing is unless you do a pull check on the line it will still look like it's hooked up. It took me an hour of headscratching before I found it.

Alright, got her back running.

As you guys know I already had the VC's off. I retorqued all of the cam bolts back down to 89 in-lb in the proper sequence. Also replaced the VCT solenoid on the passenger side since I had already ordered it.

Buttoned everything back up and started up just fine. No rough idle, no knocks, no loss of power, etc. Brakes are fine, also.

I'm thinking the bolts backed out somewhat because of the shoddy NAPA torque wrench I originally used. Bought a Craftsman today at Sears (my Snap-On was supposed to have been delivered today but didn't arrive) and went to work.

Also went ahead and changed the oil out with fresh Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend with a Motorcraft filter. Started using RP at 30K miles (at 37K now) and will probably switch over to Mobil 1 Synthetic at 40K miles.

I need to take it on a lengthy drive now to make sure everything is absolutely 100% good.

Yea, here is the thread on my previous track times:

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50673

Last time ran a 13.2 @ 105.41 on stock tires.

Tonight I couldn't get the car to hook worth a shit whatsoever.

Ran a best of 13.39 @ 106.08 with a 2.197 60-foot tonight again on stock tires. Trapped consistently at 106 with 2.0+ 60-foot times. I'm going back again this next Saturday but I'm definitely buying tires this week to get her to hook.

LOL, I had the same problem with traction after my cam install and ran 13.1's until I got the 60' down to a 1.97 and hit my first 12.9 still spinning. It will come with a few more runs or you can dr's...Good luck.
