Searched without the results I am looking for..

I will have between 3-4k to get boost. I realize this wont get me procharged, or whippled. I know I am looking at a used kit, or the on3 turbo kit new, with the upgraded turbo.

I don't want or need to make any more horsepower than the stock bottom end can handle. No near plans to build up the 3v, if anything I will go crate one day.

So what do some of you think I should go for? I know some of you have pieced together some mean on3 kits. What pieces did you use and what was the overall cost? Sorry for the rambling, just trying to get some insight as to my best route here.

Thanks in advance. :hi:

For that budget id run the non intercooled vortech or paxton. Charger, bracket, belt, and intake is alot simpler than the on3 kit. All laid out the on3 kit looks like a jungle gym worth of pipes! U may find an intercooled kit used

Non-cooled kits are the worst idea ever . If you can't buy a cooled kit keep saving. Wait for a used Paxton or saleen twin screw to pop up , complete kit

Just did a bunch more reading on the On3 kit and between the clearance and the upgrades, it does seem a SC is the way to go. Caleb, I def want to get a cooled kit...I am pretty sure for $3,500 or so I can get a used cooled kit, just have to wait for someone to sell.

My next question is other than a procharger (I know they are wicked) which SC should I aim for? I like noisy ones...f*ck the silent blowers....

Trust me Steve, I have seen the kit and am hoping to get the funds in time...I would love that kit. I had a Vortech S-trim on my 94 cobra and made some real decent HP with minimum mods....

There have been several nice used Procharger kits on here in the $3500 range. That's what I'd suggest, but I'm a bit biased.

That's exactly what I want. I will be using a CC though so not sure if you can run a cc with paypal...plus who knows when someone will be parting with one. I would love a procharger though...sound f'n wicked

To be honest, if 3-4k is what you are working with, it is not nearly enough. Getting the kit is just the first step; there is a lot of expense afterward.

I bought my kit for 6k, and by the time everything was said and done I'd spent closer to 10k.

I am telling you this so you go in with your eyes open, you are cracking open pandora's box here.

Yeah you can charge it to a CC through Paypal. That's how I initially picked up my F1C.

Don't really agree with you here...many used kits with just about everything you need for under $4k...off to get dyno tuned and done....Not the first car I would be going FI with. Had a 94 5.0 Cobra w/ a Vortech S-trim.

Boost doesn't have to cost a fortune! If your power goals are modest, a base Vortech V3 (or the Paxton equivalent), non-intercooled, would only set you back about $3700. If you can't install it yourself, labor is well under a grand, but it's an easy install with basic hand tools.

My '07 GT Automatic Coupe had a Vortech V2 (non-intercooled), big stall converter, 4.10 gears, X-pipe, and drag radials. Ran the 1/4 mile in 11.79 @ 114, with a pair of 11.85's to back that up. Very little money invested to run high 11's. And, while many people say centrifugals lack low end torque, my car still managed to run 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and 0-100 mph in 8.8 seconds. That's plenty of grunt to pin you to the seat!

Only supporting items that I bought after the V2 kit went on was colder spark plugs (FRPP 3V0's), hotter coils (GMS Hot Street coil-on-plug), UPR oil seperator, and a boost guage - none of which was a necessity, but a good idea.

If you later have more $'s and want to go faster, add an intercooler/aftercooler so you can dial up the timing/tune for big power.

lol

Of course a vortech (not preferred but I would) kit just went up for a good price but for the 07-09's. Granted I may not be ready to pull the trigger for a week...so maybe a procharger, or another good kit will go up.....

That's the truth, FI will cost WAY more than the initial kit garunteed

Please, enlighten me with specifics. Kit used usually comes with BAP, injects, sometimes even plugs....so what else for FI? a tune? Yes, I mentioned that....There isn't a single other thing you need to go FI on these cars unless you are going for big power. Unless I missed something, than I am the asshole.

For less than $100 in parts that kit will fit the '05-06 cars as well. 2 radiator hoses, and a coolant crossover are all you need.

First is the cost of the kit and hopefully you get a complete one. Then gauges, gauge pod, race tires, potential suspension upgrades. I had to change my exhaust. HF cats had to go, they were not metallic ones, so they would melt. Had them cut out and resonators welded in place.
The point here is expect to pay more than just the cost of the kit. Is your car a manual? What shape is your clutch in? Shit happens faster with FI, some good, some bad.

Again...appreciate the heads up but this is not my first time going FI.....

My sig says...O/R X pipe....no cats. Car is a 5spd with 20K miles on it, 11K of them babied by me. Car is in TOP notch shape. Suspension is upgraded minus the shocks, which, I am not worried about upgrades because I am adding a blower.

OF course guys...I could upgrade a thousand things because I am going FI. Does NOT mean any of these things are required...more spark, fuel, to comp the extra air. :wtf1:
