With the intense summer heat, we put up blackout curtains in the garage. They do help and have kept the temps down about 4 degrees. The dehumidifier also helps maintain a more comfortable environment, but it's still warm, no matter how you slice it.

The wife wanted the basement finished. So as payment for my labor, we installed a two unit mini split. One for the basement, and one for my garage! I don’t use it continuously, but when I am working out there all day it is worth its weight in gold!

With my health conditions, I generally plan on any parts replacements and overall preventative maintenance over the fall/winter months, as it is cooler out there. I can detail the car year-round but try to do the upkeep during the cooler months of the year. Fortunately, I am pretty caught up with preventative maintenance on this lower-mileage gem.

It's nice you were able to compromise, and both of you get a portion of the basement for your own desires.

That dehumidifier will add heat to the area. But might be worth it to keep humidity down.
