I've replaced plenty of resistors and blower motors in various Ford + GM vehicles which has always been the fix.

The blower motor in my car only blows at 1 speed regardless of which position the selector is set 1-4 seems to blow at perhaps level 1 or 2 only.

I replaced both the motor + resistor and the pigtails (even though nothing was melted) and the problem remains.

Question: Is the control\selector knob a known problem area? This is just a base model, simple dimple AC controls. I plugged the OEM resistor back in and that didn't change anything either.

Check your fusebox. I believe some members have had issues with it getting hot and melting the board where the wires connect. I think you have to actually take the fuse box apart. Brain is getting fuzzier everyday but I thought I remember a burnt up board picture where the fan wire cionnects or where the relay plugs in.

I just saw this thread and may be a little late to the party but...
I had a similar problem and ended up changing the selector switch which resolved the problem.
