I've replaced plenty of resistors and blower motors in various Ford + GM vehicles which has always been the fix.

The blower motor in my car only blows at 1 speed regardless of which position the selector is set 1-4 seems to blow at perhaps level 1 or 2 only.

I replaced both the motor + resistor and the pigtails (even though nothing was melted) and the problem remains.

Question: Is the control\selector knob a known problem area? This is just a base model, simple dimple AC controls. I plugged the OEM resistor back in and that didn't change anything either.

Check your fusebox. I believe some members have had issues with it getting hot and melting the board where the wires connect. I think you have to actually take the fuse box apart. Brain is getting fuzzier everyday but I thought I remember a burnt up board picture where the fan wire cionnects or where the relay plugs in.

I just saw this thread and may be a little late to the party but...
I had a similar problem and ended up changing the selector switch which resolved the problem.

Hi there,
I'm having the same issue. I've changed my blower & resistor and it only works on level 1.
I'm going to try replacing the selector switch and update yall.

so, funny story, i had a faint of doubt (not sure if this is a correct grammar) on the climate switch and decided to take a look before i went down to a junkyard. i took off a few dash board pieces and got to it and to my surprise, the wire to climate switch was plugged off! what a finding! all it took was some cleaning the dust, reconnect, and BOOM I GOT THE BLOWER WORKING

i tried replacing both motor/resistor and checked for voltage on both wires. and they passed. so i had to narrow it down to the climate switches.

do a top down test. start from fuses, then blower, then resistors, and check for wire continuity or if it has voltage running through. if you find a problem along the way, fix and keep it going. and if everything works, its a climate switch or faulty wire somewhere.

im glad mine was just unplugged wire. thanks for reading!

New to this forum! Great find, have had my 2005 V6 convertible for 16 years! Have enjoyed and found maintenance isn't difficult or even expensive to have other done by the pros!

Ok, recognizing this is an old thread, just spent hours trying to diagnose a HVAC fan that will only blow one speed. Worst part was getting to the resister under the passenger side dashboard. Just not comfortable for this old man, with a bad back to twist and turn and get to it.
So did two things, which has not helped:
- Replaced resister
- Replaced relay (did on a couple of fan-related relays, testing between moves to other relays)

This didn't fix the problem, but was cheapest start to fix/diagnosis. Would replacing the blower motor itself be the next step to solve this problem? I am mechanically able (shade-tree, if you know what I mean), so I can test voltage etc.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Great! I actually ordered it yesterday, again not expensive, thought it could be the issue, and should be an easy replacement!

I will let everyone know in a few days, when I get a chance to replace the switch.

crossing fingers!

Turns out, simlar problem as a previous poster 4-im-here-again, simply on of the wires within the plug had pulled back and was not making contact. Pushed it back in and BOOM it works.
Great news, because the switch I bought, even though it was advertised for a 2005, did not fit, so the result is I checked the plug and yes, it now works just fine!\

Thanks, all!
