Hello everyone,
I have a 2005 Mustang GT and it’s Saleen Supercharged. I’m having an issue with the alternator bracket, my belt seems to slightly be rubbing on the bracket coming off the idler pulley that sits behind the bracket up to the alt pulley. The previous owner had some issues with the vehicle but didn’t really know what was going on with it. So after pouring some money into it to get several things fixed one of the things that has been giving me a consistent issue is the alt bracket. The alternator bracket was broken and I ended up getting it re-welded but it seams as if it’s not quite square but I don’t think that’s my issue. I believe my issue is the top bolt that holds the alternator tight might be off, looks as if they put in another hole from the original one that the bracket has. I believe that’s what’s causing the belt to rub. I’m wondering if there is an alternative bracket I can purchase since I’m having a hard time finding another alternator bracket for the 2005 Saleen or if I can use a smaller idler pulley that might help getting the belt from rubbing. All help would be really appreciated, I currently don’t have many pictures but I will work on getting some.

so you can take a grinder with a sanding pad (like 60 or 80grit) and grind down some of the bracket so it clears the bolt head. (if its only slightly rubbing that is)

the one thing i suggest you do , is check your crankshaft for runout or end play,,
some people had belt issues and the belt would "walk" and be frustrated buying belt after belt and not knowing why the belt was "walking" or all of a sudden rubbing on things it never did.. only to find out that the thrust crank bearing was chewed up and leting the crank have too much play , and thus having loads of belt issues,

fordmikuko tech on youtube has a great video showing you how to do this

if the crankshaft is good, than eaither sand alittle off to give you the clearance you need for the bolt head ,, or worst case,,, weld up that hole and move it on over and redrill ,,
