Alright so here is the rundown and what I need some advice on.
Recently purchased this car in the last month so just digging into everything and trying to get the car squared away. Car has 170k miles.
I have been dailying it for the past month. I have randomly encountered issues with the car just not going into gear, I go to shift into gear and it catches and stops me from shifting, but it does not grind. It feels like I can't move it forward until I stop, put it back in N, and then go to shift again and it's fine. Here in the last couple days I have started smelling burning clutch anytime I stop, even if I drive it carfully.
So I got the car up on all fours, and filled up the transmission with about 1.5qts of fluid, which I think is a lot to just add to the car. Unsure if the transmission has ever been serviced. (Yes I used the correct fluid)
While I was down there I had noticed this leak from the transmission. I knew of it, but I thought it was just a small leak that was keeping the tailshaft just moist. Not soaking the entire area around it.
What exactly could be causing this leak, and where could it be exactly coming from?
I also feel like the rubber bushings on my crossmember are pretty mush looking. Are they supposed to look the way they do or am I just over thinking it.
I also just bought a new clutch kit so I plan to replace my clutch, slave cylinder, and probably flywheel just to square things away. Unsure when they were last done.
(Side note, is the transmission drain plug supposed to be as far out as it is, or should it be more snug to the transmission?)
