BRENSPEED George & Garrett (Pit Crew) did their thing ...

Guys,

George and Garrett showed up on Tuesday and left around 2pm on Wednesday afternoon from the house.

Man they sure came prepared as they brought everything you can imagine to do their work.

As you know from previous post they came to do the Up-Grade from a 6-Rib Serpentine to a New 8-Rib BRENSPEED Serpentine set-up.

That Mustang was packed full I can tell you that it's a good thing those guys are not fat.

They pulled in the rear turn around and immediately started UN-Loading.
Then instantly started working ............

I'll make an attempt not to get to wordy on saying what I think about the latest changes but you guys know how I luv to type.

I really like this new 8-Rib set-up for sure.
They actually installed the complete kit on mine.
I had some 8-rib pulleys but George said they wanted it all new so that's what Garrett did.
While Garrett was doing the 8-Rib change over George was doing the Spark-Plugs.
Also George saw oil in the lower valley under the Roush S/C when he was changing out that front 6-Rib to the 8-Rib.
So he pulled the Roush and in checking it he found that the very front seal was seeping oil some.
So he called Brent at BRENSPEED and Brent said No-Worries I'll send a (Replacement) Roush S/C UPS Next-Day-Air.
So George and I discussed it and decided the smart move would be to send it to my buddy locally that owns Lexpro here in Franklin, TN.
His business is only like 15-minutes from me.
So I gave Jon (Owner of Lexpro) a quick cell call to make sure that was okay with him.
All was A-OK with Jon so Brent sent the Roush UPS Next-Day-Air guaranteed Early AM delivery.
Meanwhile Garrett was pulling all the pulleys off the engine and found the Steeda Belt-Tensioner was going bad.
He and George then both checked it out and sure enough it was going bad so needed to be replaced.
So a Super-Quick call back to Brent and they stuck a New Steeda belt tensioner in the box also.

So the two of them did their thing on Tuesday to where they actually had to stop and wait for UPS the next morning (Wednesday).

We then all headed over to The Chop House and had really great meals.

Came back to the house and watched Master & Commander and Skyfall.
Yes they might have consumed a few Cold Brews and some snacks of course.
I took them back to Comfort Inn where I had reserved their room and it was around 1:30 AM.

I met them at The Cracker Barrel around 9 AM my time so they could get some sleep as they were up like 20-hours on Tuesday.

We had some excellent breakfast for sure and then headed home to wait for a call to pick up the parts from Lexpro.

Got home and talked with Lori (Office Manager at Lexpro) and parts were in.

So off we went to Lexpro and then back to the house for them to continue.

Garrett finished up the 8-rib set-up and George UN-Boxed the Roush and changed it over to the 8-Rib pulley.
Something I did not expect speaking of the Roush and it's new 8-Rib Pulley.
Brent & George discussed it and they decided to go from the 2.7 pulley to a New 2.6 Roush 8-Rib Pulley.
So fellows I said I did not see the changes adding any more power well I was mistaken.
I say that for two reasons, one if the 6-rib would or was slipping any the 8-rib is not going to, also the new 2.6 8-Rib Pulley adds more BOOST.
So Bonus time for me !!!

Well they soon completed their work and finally it Stopped raining (Hard to Believe I know) and off they went for a test drive.
I think they drove like something like 30-miles or so on what is known here as 840.
It's a 4-lane like the interstate so they could drive anyway they wanted plenty of room.
They got back and No-Leaks at all and it ran just fine per both of them.
George said he really did not run it Wide-Open but he did punch it a few times and it went from around 60 MPH to 110 or so instantly !!!

So all was fine with the Mustang and they had loaded the Brenspeed Mustang already so they could head back to Pierceton, IN.
It was something like 2 PM or 2:30 PM my time and you add an hour more for their time-zone.
They had a pretty darn long drive back home as it is something like 460-miles from me to Brenspeed.

I let them follow me to the interstate as I was taking Cathy's MCS over to Mini which is right off the same interstate heading to Nashville, TN. that those guys were on.
They finally on the way down the interstate passed me and off they went to back home.

I pulled both cars back in the garage and loaded the pictures into photobucket I took.
I actually took twice or more the number of pictures your going to see in this post.
I took my time and got rid of as many as I could to narrow them down to what you will see below.

I'll try to explain the pictures so they make sense to you that are interested.

I hear what sounds like a NON-Stock-Engine
pulling in my driveway.
I go downstairs and look out the window.
It's the guys in the BRENSPEED Race-Car.

Yes it's raining with 100% chance as usual as they pull up.
A quick few pictures so they can UN-Load and not get "Soaked".

Garrett on Left & George on Right.

As you can see mine is sitting at an angle and ready for them.

And the big double door is shut and they start the process.

Here is a picture of the 6-Rib Serpentine belt set-up.

Here is a picture of the 8-Rib BRENSPEED Serpentine belt set-up.

Roush is removed and Garrett is doing the
8-Rib changing.

As you can see if you look close they even brought a wheeled cart.
They took it completely apart and then reassembled it.

Garrett is I think dropping the front Anti-Sway-Bar as it's in the way.

George is setting the Spark-Plugs.

Here you can see the difference in the 6-Rib & 8-Rib pulleys.

Here is the New 8-Rib Set-Up pulleys.

Here we are at the Chop House in Franklin, TN.
Those guys ate Very-Very-Well while visiting for sure.

We then went back to my house and watched movies and they might have consumed a few
Cold-Brews.

Next morning (Wednesday) I drove over to Comfort Inn
and we all then went to
The Cracker Barrel to do the
Breakfast thing.

We then went back to my house and got the call
from Lori at Lexpro.
The Next-Day-Air parts had arrived.
So off we went to Lexpro about 15-minutes from my house.

George doing his thing.

George UN-Wrapping the replacement Rouch S/C
and Steeda Serpentine-Belt-Tensioner.

George just handed Garrett the Steeda part.

There is the Roush that was removed.

George inspecting the replacement Roush and getting ready to do the install.

There goes the Roush being installed.
Actually it's the "HURRICANE" by BRENSPEED Modified unit.

Garrett is installing the New Steeda Belt Tensioner.

A look at the difference between the belt sizes.

The New BRENSPEED 8-Rib completely installed.

Thought some of you might like this picture.
Ford Racing throttle-body.

The BRENSPEED B-302 Racing-Engine
with the New 8-Rib is actually
running in this picture.

Last picture of it totally completed.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
Terry

Nice, but all that work they did and you let them drink that "flavored water" with dinner? Hopefully back at your place they had some proper beer!

Is that TVS snout mod a Stiegmeyer venom cooler?

Shane,

That's correct that's the company that does that work.

Are those the Metco Motorsports pullies?
Honest reply I did not look at the boxes the pulleys came in so I'm not sure.
See those boxes with the American Flag on them.
I'm sure that's the Billet Aluminum Pulleys.
If you go to the Metco site maybe they will show the same boxes then that will confirm.

They both enjoyed their stay and I'm glad they did.
I can tell you they did not mess around they immediately jumped in once they UN-Loaded the Brenspeed Mustang and went to work.

Nothing was changed in the tune for the 2.6 8-Rib Pulley on the Roush.
I don't think it really would be necessary as the other one was a 2.7 pulley.
Just not all that major of a difference IMO.
Maybe if this was a Drag-Race-Car then I can see they might have wanted to make sure the tune was giving everything possible from the smaller size pulley.
But on mine it just simply makes no difference I don't think.
Also Brent & I discussed the 93-Octane Tune that I'm running and we both agreed not to Lean-It-Out for Maximum Performance.
So it's a little fat/rich intentionally so the smaller pulley if anything in my mind might simply get it a little less fat/rich with a little extra boost-pressure.

Terry, what failed on the Steeda tensioner? I have one and would like to know what to watch for.

Seems it was the Spring-Pressure they did not like.
It had been on that engine since back in 2011.
So decision was made to just replace it with a new one and not even worry about it.
More a reliability sort of thing than a Failed-Component.
And since Brent was already sending the replacement Roush why not stick a new Steeda-Belt-Tensioner in the same box.

That's awesome

Thank-You.

Matt,

I looked in the trash can but I don't have the Steeda Belt Tensioner that was replaced.

I did go on-line and tried to fine a good picture so I could show you what happened to mine.

This might not be the exact Steeda in this picture below but it will allow me to show you at least what was failing on mine.

I called George at Brenspeed and asked him exactly what was wrong or failing on mine that they replaced.
