I believe 2010 has power steering rack while the 2012 has the EPAS. Iron vs Aluminum block as already mentioned. Probably other minor differences that you would have to research to find.

What I found on the Shelby forum.

"This is just off the top of my head, I know I'm forgetting more

*Aluminum block
*Electric steering
*Silver finish on SC
*Blue power coat valve covers
*Improved exhaust manifolds
*Larger exhaust diameter
*H pipe vs 2010 X pipe
*Painted rear end
*Finned aluminum diff cover
*Improved brake cooling
*Auto start ignition
*40% larger inter cooler
*HID's standard
*No gas guzzler tax
*Flip up/ down rear headrests
* Improved under body aero dynamics
*Orange antifreeze
*Bigger faster more complex computer
*Wideband o2's?
*New colors
*Improved suspension, fixed the 2010's wheel hop.
*10 horsepower more but seems to make more like 20whp
*Factory "Boost a pump" for the fuel pump
*"My key" for limiting speed and TC for certain keys
*Different cam part numbers, some say its the Ford GT cams due to the 2011's making peak whp at redline
*Optional glass roof

The widebands and boost a pump are on the 12. It helps with tuning a lot.
It also has a much larger intercooler.

Can the iron block handle more boost?

I heard the block performance is rated the same on both blocks. I was told before reason why the GT500 use to use an iron block was because if they used the aluminum in the earlier years it would step on the toes of the old Ford GT owners. Then have higher paying customers mad there paying 100K more for a car with the same engine. So they used an iron block to set them apart. Now I was told this by a bunch of car guys a few years ago so I have nothing to back that claim up

2012 has optional recaro seats and SVT Performance package. Aluminum block instead of the iron block. Wideband o2 sensors, so you don't need to install an aftermarket wideband. Other than that, it's small stuff. Those are the main differences that make me want a 2012 over a 2010.

2012's seem to sound better to me than the '10 and earlier, mainly because of the size difference in exhaust piping. Get a '11+ up you can...a lot of that small stuff adds up. Also not sure if it was mentioned, but the 11+ has knock sensors as well that can pull timing and etc. according to what the engine is experiencing....that little part has probably saved more than a few engines

If you had a choice betwen them both, I would pick a 2011+ all day long. Yes my Bullitt has the good ole Iron Block and they will handle more power than the aluminum blocks (and are less expensive if they kaboom), but the weight off the front of the vehicle makes a HUGE difference as far as comfort... and that's what I love about my '13.

IMO the '10 is a bastard child unit since you have the older technology with the newer body and if you were going to get the old stuff, you might as well get those 07-09 sexy lines with it :)

FWIW, only the 2013+ GT500's have the FGT cams; the 2007-2012 GT500's have the same cams.
