I took my 12 to the track for the first time. The car is all stock it is a California special and auto on the stock 19" Perillis. The DA was in the 1700-1800 all night. Everything I read said the like leaving at idle or just off idle on street tires with stock converter. On all the passes I did a burnout til I saw a little smoke in the side mirror. After my first pass I put the car on the scale. It was 3726 without me. (3/4 tank of gas) So race weight was 3916!! I had the car in OD and let it shift on its own.
1st pass.... I sat at idle I used the one foot approach. As the lights came down I took my foot off the brake and floored it. It was a 2.1x 60' and went 13.3x @ 107.xx
2nd pass... I sat at idle but this time used 2 feet. The results were the same 2.1x 60ft 13.3x @107.
3rd pass.... this time I brake torqued it til around 1000 rpms. I had the same results 2.1x 60ft and 13.3x @ 107mph.
4th pass... I figured screw it and tried leaving around 1700 rpms. The car spun and went a 13.4x @ 106 mph.
The first 3 passes the car barely spun if at all. If anything it felt a little lazy. I know several people have gone 12s stock. If leaving at idle and flooring it is the best approach and its an auto (leaving it in drive) its not my shifting. What else can I do to try to get it in the 12s next time out besides taking weight out of the car? I was going through the traps at the top of 3rd so the shift into 4th wasn't slowing me down. Also there was a stock 14 6spd there. It was running the same 13.3 @107. Any advise would be appreciated.
