Do you really think the grunt on the assembly line cares that its Darren's car? He gets a little piece of paper saying, "Oh wow, this car is going to so and so. I will do good job!" No, he says "Fuuuuuuccckkkkkkkkk break time in 30 minutes and I have 30 cars to spray paint. FML"

lol...

Yeah your right about that guy, but the quality control guy should have a whole different attitude/opinion!! Being in QC (not automotive related) myself I would put the customer first!! When I was a "grunt" on the ground I never had an attitude like that! I guess that's why promotions came my way!!! Lol!!!

Thanks for the kind words guys. The color is AMAZING. From a distance this car definitely turned heads, but the orange peel was so bad it was almost unbelievable. I was gonna take pics of the dent and the running paint under the hood but I was so upset I said screw it and left. You guys would have stroked if you would have seen the run of paint under the hood! I stood in awe!!!

Oh well. Life goes on. It's just a car. I'm gonna cool off and revisit the idea of another one. The guys at the dealership were FANTASTIC and extremely understandable. I was embarrased for them to be honest.

Sorry to hear about your car. It sucks when they come beat up. My 2010 GT500 was like that and luckily most of it was able to be addressed. Orange peal is going to be on every one of these cars. Heck go look at pretty much any new car they all do it unless it's a high dollar ride.

Hate to say it but I've detailed a few Murcielagos in the past and did some paint readings on an Aventador recently. They have orange peel as well. You should accept the fact your $35,000 Ford will have orange peel.

Scratch on the hood is something that can be fixed as well.

Agreed. A days worth of wetsanding would have a lot of that peel out, and it builds character lol.

Like said, my uncle when he first bought his Gallardo brand new, it had orange peel. Lots of wetsanding and loving later, it looks flawless, and its Twin Turbo'd now. I say keep it Darren

Yeah, I've never noticed much orange peel on mine! But the paint is very thin!!!!

But, I think his problem wasn't any one thing but the combo of the problems! Any one thing maybe he could of lived with, but then the sloppy tranny issues was the last straw!!!!

just don't sand too much.. the new waterborne paint is THIN!

I had no problem wet sanding my 2012 gt500 or my previous 2011 gt.

The paint layer is thin, the clearcoat on the other hand is not.

Some colors show the orange peel a lot more than others. A walk around any new car lot (Sadly, Ford mostly), and you'll find a lot of orange peel on every one of them.

A light careful wet sand will do the job. My buddy's '04 Mach 1 was wet sanded under warranty. Ford paid for it. When it was done, it looked proper.

Chryslers are the worst I've seen. Looks like a freakin ocean down some of their paint jobs. I think its more Dodge than anything though.

What is orange peel? Any pictures?

Its the wavy texture that paint takes.

This a little dry and exaggerated:

Usually dark colors are the worst.

My 2007 was a special order and I didn't realize that the right rear quarter panel had been taped and painted until I was about to trade it in. I suspect that the dealer did it because I got a history on the car and the dealer called me a week after it arrived on their lot for pick up. There was no report on Carfax either.

Personally, the more i think about it, I am glad you shoved it up their asses. I can accept orange peel, but not another paint job on a hood and a quarter panel on a new car. You will see the shade difference unless maybe they blend it, and you'd still know it was there in your mind.

As anal as you are, you'll never be happy.

Let someone else stress over it, get another car.
