Thanks for nothing, glad you guys could have a laugh at my expense for no particular reason.

Welcome to S197forum. lol Actually, it used to be a lot worse around here, especially when SD and his nut-swingers were around.

Seriously though, it's good to hear a dealer is finally doing something about your problem. It's so annoying having weird noises from a trans or rear.

you're right. I had it into ford this morning, and there's a problem with the clutch not releasing properly....

what was that about this sound being normal? if you've got a 2013 or 14, and its making that sound, you should probably take your car in to the dealership.

again, since a lot of you guys didn't actually read the post, or really seem to give much of a care at all: it didnt matter what gear i was in. I'm not talking about having the RPMs down below 1000, I'm talking about having the SPEED down below 10km. Regardless of gear, regardless of RPM, it would make that sound.

Thanks for nothing, glad you guys could have a laugh at my expense for no particular reason.

You need to shoot another video. Seriously. I heard absolutely nothing adventitious in the video you posted and ONLY going by your "description" it sounded like you were lugging the motor.

This place is really knowledgable, but can be witty at the same time........even at the expense of trying to get your point across.

Shoot another vid and try to get the exact sound YOU hear to the forum. Continue to try to describe in better detail what's going on with your particular car.

It's gonna be OK....and I bet your problem can be brought to light by these extremely intelligent members...........worst case scenario is you'll die from laughter. hahaha

Case in point........look at THESE rocket science replies in my thread. Unbeknowst to these MO-RONS, I have the fastest N/A garage queen in THE WORLD.........hence the jealousy. LOL

This is absolutely normal.

I was in the shop last week for this very same issue. I've had my 5.0 about 5 weeks now, so yeah -- it was troubling and I didn't want to mod before I had this issue documented.

The more I read it is indeed a downshift indicator

I don't hear anything in those vids, but if you're lugging it down, the sound may be coming from the backlash of the gears as the front face of one smacks the back of the other repeatedly from the low speed in too high a gear.

Does it do it if you drive the car through proper revs/acceleration??

How the fuck do you even know what a mustang sounds like when it's moving? lol

I have heard that kind of sound from time to time and it does seem to be a Downshift Signal. What it sounds like to me is an exhaust heat shield vibration. On a previous car it was cured by driving a metal screw into the gap between catalytic converter and the shield.

You need to shoot another video.

I don't know how many times I can state that it isn't my video. I can't seem to pick the sound up on camera, thus why I posted the only vid I could find displaying the noise.

what's most unsettling is the number of mustang owners here who just accept that sound as being something the car kinda just "does". I've never owned an automatic car in my life. Before this mustang I had a BMW 330ci, a golf GTI, and an Audi A5. all were manual. not a single one made this noise at low speed/low RPM. this is not a "downshift indicator" as some people have suggested. Again, if your car makes the sound you're hearing in the video, it is NOT NORMAL. It is indeed a defect that ford needs to address. The part that needed replacement (under warranty, thankfully) was the clutch throwout bearing. at very low speeds (example, crawling through a parking garage) the clutch would not release as it should. the tech described it as an "uneven" release of the clutch. this results in that godawful grinding noise at low speed.

Again, 2011-2014 owners. if your car makes that noise, don't assume its some "normal" thing the car just does. no car I've ever owned has done it, and other mustang owners I know don't have cars that do it. its a problem with the car, and its something that can, and should be fixed. Even ford tried telling me it was normal, until the 3rd dealership I brought it to had a tech with some real knowledge of the transmission.

worse than that, the number of responses here telling me its "normal" gives me the impression that car will probably still make the noise when I get it back, and the faulty throw out bearing was merely coincidental and good timing to catch it.

Glad you're getting it fixed.

The diagnosis we gave was for the description you gave in your first post. Not sure if we can help you with troubleshooting since apparently it's a different issue.

EVERY manual transmission I've ever driven (read: A LOT) rattles at low rpm and high load. Glad you're getting a problem taken care of.
