2014 tail lights on my 2010.

I have some 2014 tail lights im putting on. I have a friend that has done the same on his 2012. My wiring harness is a little different than his and I cant plug mine into the new tails. I can go get a set of 2014 wiring harness or will that not work? any ideas? I know many people have done this already.
