That's an ugly mother... definitely going to need some aftermarket goodies!

I'm sure that is not the production engine cover, but they certainly shoe horned that 5.0 in there. It is hard to tell, but it almost looks like they have pushed back the firewall in the middle of the car to allow the motor to be mounted further back as well. I honestly don't see how a 5.8 would fit. Not so much because of strut tower clearance, but back towards the firewall looks very tight.

Looks like they moved the ABS unit as well. Thanks for the pic.

I can't believe that's the production engine cover, its ugly! Looks like from the pictures the air box being smaller that an after market CAI could help on a stock engine.

I'm sure the engine cover is pre-production and the hood probably wasn't meant to be opened for the public to see. Look at the jumbled wires on the passenger side.

I have a bit of a hunch on the air box. I'm guessing it is an attempt to keep the power limited to between the 420 of the previous Coyote and the 444 of the BOSS. There have just been too many improvements to stay under 450 with equivalent intake and tuning of the previous coyote.

Yeah - that's horrid.

If they came like that from the factory, I would be very turned off.

Did anyone even notice the different color engine bay?

I do like that there are separate mounting bolts for the STB on the shock towers. I'm not sure if the 11-14's have that or not, but I know the 05-09 didn't.

Dang good observation! I had to scroll up to take another peek at it!

Yeah, aside from changing the air filter, I wouldn't want to have to work on the engine in that engine bay.

The only REAL difference is that the current resevoir has the black plastic cover vs the semi translucent top of the new one. Hopefully that is not the final production piece. I have a really good feeling that lots of this is pre-production stuff and the hood was never meant to be left open for photography.

Is it me or does it look like the intake tube really bottlenecks by the PCV fitting?

I see that also... Unless it's just the pic angle... That fucker sure does look crammed in there...

Looks like dropping the kmember, like on a new edge, is going to be the way to do them

If you have a lift available, Drop the engine. On my 2007, my last set of LT's were done with the engine out of the car. 1.5 hours to drop the engine and trans as one unit connected to the K. 20 minutes to swap the headers. 1.5 hours to put the engine and trans back in.

3.5 hours was way better than 8 to 12 hours on my back in the driveway.

I think the line is just casting a shadow.

EDIT: That was shot with an IPhone 5s... how many fucking revisions have there been? Good grief.

If you have air tools dropping the K member makes it a 5 hour job but I agree, if you have access to a lift that is the way to go.
