This car at least aesthetically is a mf home run slam dunk!!! Just wow. HOT! Dat ass on the GT350! Fat! Nice. Man...if I only had money for one more car...then...just one more car after that and then one more...You get the picture.

Back looks great, the bumper cover is HORRIBLE! It looks like a handlebar mustache or a Lexus. And I'm horribly disappointed it didn't get different headlights like the GT500's did. I like the GT bumper cover a lot more.

other way around for me. The front looks good, I do see the lexus persona in it a tad bit though. I don't like the rear, looks too tall.

I really really hope it comes in the $50-55k range. I think it should be priced close to the last boss 302, maybe a tad more, but I could be dreaming.

The front looks better, still too big of a grille area for me. The rear looks the same, just with a different diffuser. Cam i think its the paint job that makes it look taller.

Nope, hence the question mark.. but almost looks like they screw from inside hat to disc... or it's just cast that way for weight reduction which is cool too.
Yep. Ford sez so;
Due to the significant speeds the car can develop, GT350 features the most track-credible brake system ever offered on a Ford vehicle in terms of absolute stopping power, fade resistance and brake pedal feel. The brakes are two-piece cross-drilled iron discs mounted to aluminum hats. At the front are massive 394-millimeter rotors clamped by Brembo six-piston fixed calipers with integrated caliper bridges, while 380-millimeter rotors at the rear utilize four-piston calipers.
From here: https://media.ford.com/content/ford.../shelby-gt350-mustang-the-legend-returns.html

I dunno these vs mega-buck carbon-carbon brakes? I'm thinking for a dual-purpose street/track car these make more sense in the long run. The GT350 doesn't appear to be as much a focused track-only car like the Z28 is.

Maybe we should start a pot on who can hold out on GT350 mods the longest.
I think we all know that won't last very long at all. We are a bunch of addicts here that can't leave our cars alone.

Carbon brakes are over rated. Buy a set of used zr1 rotors/brakes if you want, since a lot of them upgrade to steel rotors.

Carbon brakes don't fade and/or overheat like steel brakes do. Period. Fact. End of story. Plus they are a lot lighter.

ZR1 guys are not upgrading to steel rotors. They are going with steel because they don't want to cough the money up for carbon replacements. And I'll bet dollars to doughnuts these ZR1 guys are not hard core track day'ers.

Carbon brakes are outlawed in almost every racing class. It's so the low budget teams can compete with the high budget teams. If carbon were allowed the carbon braked teams would DESTROY the steel braked teams.

This is probably one of only a few cars I could leave alone performance wise. I want one.

+1. Maybe if Ford Racing comes up with a few mods I'd go that route, but I feel like there's so much engineering that went into this car I don't know if I'd want to touch it. And it sounds amazing right out of the gate.

Ok I'm seriously considering buying one. When are we able to order one? My problem is that I can't leave anything alone. Also does anyone have a weight on this car? Did I miss what manual trans is in it? If I can order one without a mark up its a done deal.

Truth, they are better in every way pretty much aside from cost. And I'm assuming that was a big part of Ford's decision to not use them. I'm sure they want this car to be within a certain reach of most enthusiasts. When the M5/M6 became available with them we had to do online trainings for them to understand the differences compared to standard M brakes. It's funny though because the people that buy these cars get the brake package for looks mostly. Don't even know anything about what they just spent 10k on, for a brake upgrade. And they're not covered under maintenance. I do find it interesting that you measure AND weigh the rotors for wear purposes. Due to how the Carbon oxidizes. And you can't let anything hit them bc they could chip. Hence the wheel lift we are supposed to use when taking off and putting the wheel back on. You're also not supposed to get certain cleaners and stuff on them. But under normal driving conditions the rotors could last a very long time. Well past any maintenance period if they were covered.

Did you mean to put this in the Hellcat thread? This is the GT350 thread.

aren't steel rotors a easier for the street as the CC need to be warm to function at their best

This is from the BMW comparison/training guide in regards to that

That is mostly down to pad composistion. Track pads work good on the track, street pads work good on the street. When the carbon stuff first came out yes, there were issues with heating them up so that is where that "wives tale" came from. The OEM's didn't start using them until that was solved.

But, the carbon brakes have a much larger window as far as pad performance goes. A street carbon pad will be more than enough for 99% of track day'rs because you can heat them WAY up and they won't go outside their operating window. A steel rotor street pad doesn't have nearly that flexibility.

Of course race carbon brakes with race pads need to be warmed up still. But only hard core racers will be running that combo. And they sure wouldn't run it on the street, assuming the car could even go on the street.

I saw a Top Gear episode where they had three supercars for an "adventure". They stopped at Imola (Italy) and ran the cars around. Jeremy was running the big Lambo with carbon brakes. They were GLOWING (this was daytime, not night) bright orange in the heavy brake zones. No fade (he commented on it). Then they pulled out of the track and continued their adventure across Italy. Awesome brakes.
