So watched the race live, and it was kinda BS for the last 30 mins. So these races, like Le Mans, run until a timer goes out. The whole race was run under the rain, and the GT350, for its first time out, did pretty good. One car finished 4th, the other finished further back due to a pit penalty, but gained a lot of ground for the time it lost.
However, the last 30 mins. of the race, when the Camaro was in the lead, they threw a full course caution because of a car that spun out in turn 1. It took about 3-4 laps to get the car hooked up to a flat bed and pulled off the track. Then after that car was off the track, they ran a couple more yellow laps, and then red flagged the race.
The thing is, with the Continental series, the clock still runs under red flag conditions. The official's reasoning for the red flag was due to weather. WTF?!!?? You ran the first 80% under the same conditions, but wait until 30 minutes to go to red flag the race? 20 minutes go by until they bring out the yellow again. They let the cars pace around a few more laps, and then they throw the white flag under yellow (meaning no more green flag runs). So the Camaro ended up winning. Talk about a series that can fix a race, and people get pissed over NASCAR calling cautions.
Oh well, I hope the Mosport race in a couple weeks will be dry, and we will really see how the GT350 performs. Almost all of the drivers this race were on their tippie toes due to the wet conditions.
