So just got a call from the tire shop. 285/40/18s on 18x10 SVE Drifts are rubbing in the front. Has anybody else run into this? I bought these rims specifically to run this tire size after reading about them fitting fine on the forums. Tech says they are rubbing on the inside. Any solution suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Rubbing where? My old setup (same sizes) rubbed a little on the inner fender liner at full lock but never any time else. You got the +43 offset, correct?

Depends on where they're rubbing. There are a few "tricks" to getting large wheels to clear.

1- If rubbing on strut body, get camber plates/slotted struts. If you're using a strut that has a slotted top hole, align it to minimize camber at the strut-knuckle interface, and use camber plates to properly set your camber to whatever you want it to be

2- If rubbing on your swaybar endlink studs, cut down you swaybar endlink studs if they protrude past the strut body

3- If still rubbing on strut body, run the ARP-studded Ford Racing hubs with a small spacer

4- If rubbing on the swaybar endlink- use washers to space your swaybar endlink back (towards the engine) a little

Lowered 1 inch with steeda Comp Springs. Have Camber plates. Tech says the inner frame. Trying to get more details, stuck at work.

OK. So tires were rubbing on the back part of the A-Arm at full lock. Tire shop put the smallest spacers they had available in and now the tires clear by roughly 1/8th of an inch. Thinking Tubular A-Arms might by me enough extra room to ditch the spacers. Thanks for all the input guys, and a shout out to Latemodel Restoration for Awesome customer service. Will post pictures this weekend.

Don't go with $500+ control arms to get your >$200 wheels to fit. Just run a tiny spacer. Throw in longer studs like Mark (csamsh) said if you need more lug nut thread engagement. It'd be different if they were high dollar wheels.

Another option is to get Roush steering limiters (10-15 bucks).

And yes I know it would be ridiculous to purchase adjustable tubular A-Arms just to get the clearance....But they were on my list anyways for more camber, less weight, and now for more clearance.
