3M double-sided tapes

Those of you with experience with 3M tapes - Which tape would be a better choice for attaching body parts (spoilers, side/hood scoops, louvers, etc): the VHB, or the automotive acrylic plus? Any specific recommendations? Thanks

I'd go with the auto acrylic plus.
But there are some really great VHB products, just have to get the right ones.

I really don't know which kind of 3M tape I have used, but whatever it was, it friggin' sticks!

I use the 3M VHB at work. We assembly aluminum wall panels for commercial construction with it. It works well. You can clean the surface with denatured alcohol and it will stick very well. They also have a surface primer that you can use. With the primer, it wont come off. I have no experience with the other product though.

Once again, you must get the right VHB as it is used on different substrates in industry.
Go with the wrong one and it will come off.

The adhesion promoter is called 3M 94 Primer.

That adhesion promoter works like magic. The difference in between using it during application is like night and day. Saleen uses it for their body kit install. Also they use window urethane glue for water tight seams.

3M VHB red ..use with adhesion promoter...a lot of OEM stuff is shipped to the manufacters and installed on new cars using this. My company uses this stuff on quite a few applications we supply. Its actually required on some Ford specs
