I'm swapping a 4R70 into my car over the next week or two and I had some questions on the wiring for the Bauman Optishift. Two things I couldn't find by searching (probably just using the wrong words) which wire do you tap into for the TPS on the car? The other is what are you guys doing on the speed sensor? I was going to piggyback mine, sending the signal to the Optishift and PCM. I believe I have everything else figured out or at least I hope I do.
Thanks Mike

Those are the one's I looked thru. Tanner's shows the wire connection but didn't list which wire was used. Hopefully Billy can find his notes.
Thanks Mike

The tps can be taken from the maf. Can't remember the color, I did not do this for a tranny, I tapped into it for my meth injection.
Look at the maf diagram, that will help, as for the speed sensor....sorry can't help.

Okay, looks like the OSS + is DB/YE in the C175T connector at the pcm. The OSS - is GY/RD in the same connector.

The DB/YE is pin 3 and the GY/RD is at pin 41.

For the TPS and VREF I used the connector at the accelerator pedal or connector C2040.

TPS is pin 5 and the VREF is pin 6.

Thanks Billy. My unit may be older as I don't remember there being two wires for the TPS. I'll look later this evening and see.
Thanks Mike

Isn't the baumanator and the optishift both made by kevin? When I researched the swap, from the baumanator site it sends you to the optishift link.
Soon I will be doing the swap so I am gathering all the info I can.

Have you tried PMing Tanner about the speed sensor location he used for the TSS?

I recently hooked up this same setup.

For tps, take it from one of the pedal position "positive slope" sensor wires instead of the tps; this was clarified by baumann as a more stable signal.

Speedometer: make sure the trans is using one of the 6-hole sensors, not one of the newer 24-hole sensors. Hooking it up, we tried running it through the optishift, using the oss output to the pcm; that was a total fail. We ended up connecting the speed sensor output to the optishift input and tied together with/to the pcm oss input. The tune in the car's pcm needs to be set to reading a 6-hole sensor for proper speedometer readings.

You'll also want to hookup the shift-position starter lockout (the two white wires to the proper wires to the bec), and o/d on/off, which if using the stock shifter, you can wire in the o/d button on the handle. I opted for a separate toggle switch.

Post up other questions

Just to clarify. You originally tried using the OSS from the trans to the optishift and from the optishift to the PCM? You now have it piggybacked where the OSS from the trans splits and goes to the PCM and optishift correct? This is how I have mine setup for install. I also checked and I have the a 6 hole OSS and that has been changed in the tune. I'm sure I'll run into some more issues.

How hard was it to get the stock shifter work? Is it sloppy?
Thanks Mike

I was using a stock auto shifter to begin with, and it was already somewhat sloppy. I tried using it with the 4r, and with it being as loose as it was, just wasn't working out. I replaced it with a BMR hammer shifter for the 4-spd trans; while somewhat of a pita to install, I really like it.
