Hi guys (and possibly gals).

My transmission will engage when the selector is placed in 1 or 2 but not in any other gear. There is a slight whirring when placed in reverse and the car seems to want to creep slightly when given gas in R. Placing in D results in the same behavior as R. Any thoughts?

It's a 2006 GT.

If your not modded then I would find a used or rebuilt stock, 8 years is a good run for your trans, mine lasted about 8yrs. If you have mods and pushing up to 500 rwhp buy one of the Level 10 5r55s units for sale on this site. If your going big on hp a 4R70W swap is what you want.

I wouldn't spend to much time trying to diagnose this for a quick fix, it's a parts box now.

Just to be clear, this wouldn't be a simple fix (meaning servo, solenoid, or selector linkage) correct?

It sounds like a little more than that, you would need bands, clutches and have the servo bores drilled and lined, I'm sure they are wallowed by now. If you open this trans up to fix your going to spend a few grand unless you can rebuild yourself. TCI and level 10 have a master rebuild kit if you want to take a stab at it. You can find examples on youtube how to drill the servo bores and install the bushings.
I think a guy on this site called Legend Shaker has a real nice deal on a built Level 10 never used unit in the classifieds.

I burned through my Level 10 "Bulletproof" tranny in less than 15K miles with only 485 rwhp. They do a few good mods to the tranny but use shitty "High Energy" bands instead of the red or blues. The local guy that rebuilt it said he was disappointed in the choice of parts they used and would have expected more for a $3K+ transmission.

It has a p1700 code that leads to a bad direct drive clutch in the trans. Looks like we are going to have to pull the trans.
