Anyone know of a reputable trans shop in the northeast part of the country who knows how to rebuild the 6R80? I want to get the Exedy clutches installed but I also want the trans gone through to make sure everything looks good. thanks

VMP sells the clutch's + heavy duty 300M input shaft. If it was me, I'd be inclined to add the bigger, deeper pan to it..holds and extra 3 qts on the 6R80. Then you also get a locking dipstick..which is big enough to top up the ATF levels...and easy to check levels. I used the one from performance automatic on my 2010 pos 5r55 auto tranny. ( holds an extra 4 qts on the 5r55). AM sells em. Also installed the JDM catch can, so you don't puke ATF all over the road. ( they make versions for the 05-14 cars). Also added a B+M auto tranny cooler...in series with the oem ford tranny cooler..end of heat issues. The B+M is a bar + plate type of cooler... vs the tube + fin type. The T stat in it is unique...it works on viscosity. As the ATF heats up, it starts to flow higher up the sides of the cooler, making more and more parallel passes through it. Then filled the entire mess up with RP max ATF synthetic.

The 6R80 is a superb tranny.... and imo far better than the beefed up versions of the pos 5r55.

circle d trans. they built mine and most racers. lund, beef, dyno joe, tracey with max v

We also have a local builder that does rebuilds for lower ( <650hp) cars. Any trans shop can rebuild the 6R80. It is the same basic unit unit as the F150 uses, so all good trans shops should be able to rebuild it with Exedy frictions ans steels. If you have a higher HP application and / or want billet parts and lube / bushing mods done, then you are better off with Circle D or Power By The Hour doing your build.
