Aeroforce Interceptor Cycles On/Off When Engine is OFF

Anybody else have this issue? It's a 2011 5.0. Tune is Ford Racing (not sure if that matters).

Anyway, the Aeroforce Interceptor I just installed seems to work fine when tooling around town. Parked it back in the garage, and I noticed that after turning the car off, a red LED on the gauge blinks occasionally, followed by the gauge going through its boot-up sequence (showing the Aeroforce Logo, flashing the LED lights, etc), then staying on for about 5 seconds before powering off. It does this over and over again, so I disconnected the OBD cable to save the car's battery.

Has anyone else had this issue? There's a way to run separate switched power to the gauge to prevent it from running when the engine's off, but the instructions claim this only needs to be done on some early-2000s GM products.

Mine does that every once in a while. Simple fix unplug, then plug it back in with the ignition in the on position that should resolve the problem.

Yes, it booted all the way up, displayed data, then I turned the ignition off and a few seconds later it came back on, even though the key was out.

Happens to me too on my 2011, dual interceptor setup... the gauges have been doing it intermittently for a year now.

I don't normally sit in my car watching the gauges with the car off and key removed, so I couldn't tell you if mine does it or not.

Really? Hmm. Mine cycles on/off a LOT. Like it did it before I even had a chance to open the car door and get out. That's how I noticed it...

Mine does the same thing too. Haven't had a problem with it draining the battery but if I'm going to leave it for more then a week I will just unplug it. Takes two seconds and it's easier then buying a new battery. I've had mine for over a year now.

Same here. I've had mine for almost two years now. They're always doing it. A lot of people think it's some kind of super-duper car protection system! I told a guy one time that it was monitoring, taking video and sound using a hidden mic and the rear back up camera as well as other hidden cameras. I told him if someone breaks the glass or opens a door without the key, it sends GPS coordinates and an address to the nearest cop with a computer in his car.

He believed it! Then I told him what they actually do, and showed it to him, and he was even more amazed. lol

Never have had a battery drain issue. My car will often sit for a week and she starts right up. Almost two years and no issues.

The car will occasionally transmit a signal to the OBDII port and that triggers the gauge to turn on. If you turn the car off and do not exit the car this can trigger that event. Also if you unlock your door and do not allow the car to do a full power up and power down it will send a signal to the OBDII port. If you have the security package like my car it will send a signal to the OBDII port as well. I think you can wire up the additional power wire to a switched source to stop this from happening but not 100% sure. You may need to convert the 12v to 5v signal though.

Mine have been doing it since day one. They cycle on and off intermittently but do eventually stop. My car sits a lot n has never drained the battery.

Yep, I show my car a lot ..people think its cool to see them go through cycles. I have had the car sitting un touched for a few weeks and no battery drain at all.

Nope... and I've had it sit for up to a week/week and a half. It IS pretty annoying though as the gauges, per their description, should be OFF when the car is off; not cycling through the boot sequence.

I might try out that 12V switched thing though, mainly because I'm an electrical engineer who feels the need to tinker on everything electrical-related.

Is there a good switched 12V wire in the passenger compartment, or should I use an Add-A-Circuit to tap into the fuel pump fuse under the hood?

I say just use a Add-A-Fuse in the SJB on the passenger side. I have one there for my wideband.

What circuit should I use? On the 2011+, most of the switched circuits (power windows, etc) are under the hood.
