ambient lighting question.

my car did NOT come with ambient lighting altho i want it REALLY bad.. is there anyway i could purchase it / install it? is it hard? will it work? and if it does ,.. any1 got one they wanna sell??

I wanted it in my car, too, but it was before I knew about thit site. Me and a friend, who is an electrician, went to Pep Boys and bought LED strips, 1 10" strips under the seat and under the dash on both drivers and passenger's side (4 strips total). If you want, PM me for more details. I think total cost was around $200.

no thats not so much where i was going with that haha.. the STOCK ambient lighting that comes in our cars.. ( back dash lights) our STOCK gauges.. they change colors some optuions include the cupholder?? any1?

Are you referring to "my color" dash lighting? That's not the same as ambient lighting.

What I posted earlier is the ambient lighting option.

You're talking about two different things there. I have a V6 Pony pkg and it comes with these. The "Ambient lighting" is only for your foot wells and the cup holders. Its cool, but I have yet to really use it. I guess it's nice at night if you have a drink and want to not miss the cup holder. It would have been better if they set it up to turn on every time you opened your door, but they didn't. It works via a switch next to the cup holder. The foot well LEDs are not that bright anyway. I'm sure any after market light kit will be brighter. The other thing you are talking about is the "My Color lighting", which changes the color of your dash. It actually only changes the color of your gauges. The rest of the dash stays a lime green color. To be able to get that in an after market kit, I would imagine you need to change your instrument cluster.

ok so yall are going to think im dumb(which i am) i am so confused what exactly they are doing is it just to be able to change like every indidivual gauges color and if this is the case can u change the ugly green color that in on the center dash.

No! You didn't read my post. I have my color installed from the factory and that is what I was warning you about. You can only change the 6 main guages not the center console or any other colors. You can only change the tach, speedo, temp, oil, amps, & fuel gauges, thats all.

it is possible to change the color of the buttons on the center console but it would involve taking out the center console to change the lights(led i believe) thats inside it.

In fact there is a thread here somewhere on how to do it. It was a pretty big undertaking though.
