A fellow canuck! I haven't heard of anyone using ballast for launching. Main things I've seen and used are lower control arms, adjustable upper third link, panhard bar/brace, watts link, better rubber (the biggest one), adjusting the pinion angle, removing the front swaybar, etc.

JDM uses ballast. I'm not sure how they have it mounted though. I would get with Jim III and see if he can hook you up with some pics.

Already done , just curious about ballast
If you've already done all that including light weight wheels and full slicks than you should be able to cut 1.5 or better 60 foot times. How much more traction do you need? :roflmao:

How's a person supposed to know that when you don't have a sig or list any mods that your car has done to it? Nice trap speed I can see why you'd want to get more off the line. Oh yea and, :321: right back at ya. :roflmao:

If you're looking for guys with tons of power and good 60' times you want to speak to the fella's in this thread. http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9820

Ok...I'll chime in here. Lots of us use ballast for traction issues or to run the number in an index class. The way I have it in the car won't work for everyone. I use the factory spare tire hold down. Run the bolt up through the weight plate then put the spare tire down on top of the weight plate. Spare tire hold down hardware keeps everything in place.

Others use a weight box with lead shot bags. Or you can cut the "screw on" ends off a barbell and weld them into the trunk somewhere. Usually you brace the spare tire well with plate and weld the ends to the plate. Put your weight plates on the ends then you screw the "wingnut" from the barbell ends on to hold everything in place.

How many settings are there with those shocks? Tokico site sucks on information. What is the car doing when it leaves?

shocks adj. by a dial ( no actual # of settings )

car is just running a break in tune of 14 psi
have only made 2 passes on the new motor
car went 10.57 @ 140.62 with a 1.7x 60 ' blowing the tires off
MT et streets on bogarts @ 14 psi / steel bullit fronts ( skinnies in the spring ) this car makes a shit load of power even at low boost . I would think there is a mid 1.3x 60 ' in it with the proper suspension tunning , oh yeah , it better pull the front end !!! like the look of JDM sterlings launch, kinda what were working towards . Any suggestions is is extremely appreciated !!!

those shocks have 7.5 turns. you should tight them and then go to 6.5 for the rear and 6 for the front. i noticed a week a go that my shock were at 3.5 turns and thats why my car didnt hook.

i used to set them like i mentioned above and i used to get 1.4x '60.

try those settings, have you check the bushings on those lca's, they were known to have bad bushings.

Soft springs/stiff shocks. You might want to use a softer spring in the rear and get a coil over on the front since finding a spring soft enough for the front will be hard to find. You shouldn't need to set the rear shocks that far apart either. If it is rolling that badly you should use an anit-roll bar. You won't get much better out of the car until you get those heavy front tires off the car. Also, I'm guessing the front sway bar is gone, right?

With the turbo engine you might not get the tire-lifting antics of the screw blower Saleens. What you could end up with is a car that just goes forward and then tries to power the front end up as it goes past sixty feet. Do you have a transbrake in the car?

this is with 15-16psi. with a 76mm powerhouse ( i think )

as far as i know he's just running qa1 shocks out back and their coilovers up front , antiroll bar , upper and lowers with squat brackets suspension wise , and transbrake , 2 step , ect. , i'll get with lance tomorrow and see if he remembers offhand what they are set to and what rpm the 2 steps at

With a transbrake you definitely need a softer rear spring and a front spring that will let the car pitch rotate. As I said earlier.....get those stock front wheels off there. That's just killing any weight transfer you might be getting. Once the front suspension extends and the tires pull it back down the car will unload the rear tires. Soften up the springs and set the shocks at around 5 to 5.5 turns. Go from there.
