The entire purpose of the rules in place is to catch guys like the one posted above (limetime). The rules worked and he was exposed very quickly. What more do you want? If you want 100% guaranteed satisfaction and perfection then buy new parts from reputable vendors. It's used parts classifieds, and this forum is a thousand times better than going on Craigslist or Feebay.

Also, is tracking ip's pretty easy to do? I'm all for protecting the classifieds, but how much trouble is it to stop the occasional scammer? There's always going to be an element of risk when buying over the internet in a classifieds format. That's just the nature of the beast. Always use paypal, and never "gift" it to get out of the fees. At least then you'll have some recourse with paypal. Maybe you get scammed, but most folks aren't.

I had the opportunity to buy some headers from a guy that hadn't posted enough to use the classifieds... It was a sweet deal and he sounded straight up, but I passed. I just took delivery this week on a set that I bought here no problems. Maybe the first guy was legit, but why risk it.

The mods do a good job for the most part, but asking them to track ip addresses seem a little much. We just all have to make good decisions with our funds.

Thanks for the support. I check IP addys frequently when I feel it's needed. I did for this Limelight to see if there was an obvious second SN he was using (which I didnt find)

Yep, it's easy to jump through a proxy or hide an ip. I agree it'd be hard to track, but it's good to know you do check to see if they're attached to any other screen names.

I am with everyone who supports the classifieds section. I see no reason to shut it down. The rules implemented have made it a much better process than what it was before. Gives the buyer a chance to see what's up for grabs and gives the seller a chance to show what they got.

I have tasted both ends of the spectrum in buying and selling. All that can really be said is, well... We always buy at a risk. 99 times out of 100 we are going to have a smooth process. There will be the one time where deception shows its ugly face. No one knows when they're gonna be deceived. It's just the nature of it. What drives a person to deception? Who knows. More than likely they needed a quick bailout, said to hell with it. They took someone and just ride off. There are those who are repeat offenders and are quickly getting disposed of now. Moderators are doing a great job and most sellers are good honest dudes abiding by the rules.

I try and exchange numbers when I strike a deal. I also try and put up more than one pic of the item I'm selling. Helps to show the condition of the said item. I feel for anyone who's gotten took by I crook as I am one of them. I also feel for the buyers who have sold a part only to get thrown under by the buyer saying the part is not what was depicted, not in good shape, etc. I doubt any seller is trying to get rich here. All the parts being sold here are sold at really handsome prices. We all just got to realize it's the nature of it. It's basically a cyber swap meet. You get scammed enough by a dude at a real swap meet, the people in charge find out, hey guess what? They're not allowed back. Not defending anyone, nor throwing anyone under the bus. Just throwing out how the process is.

That's definitely possible with the system that is in place here. Hell, someone could just put in a negative rating on you for something that's not even listed, or, as noted here, where THE BUYER drops the ball, in which case, the seller should have the right to do negative feedback on them!

Regarding Fast_3V, I know Leo personally and would buy anything from him, without hesitation, and have done so and will do so again. I see him every so often and have helped him work on his car. He deserves 100% rating.

Lastly, there's going to be those looking to offload junk to people or scam them. Most of the transactions here as noted are legit and completed without issue between the parties. Seldom is anything perfectly new, but sometimes it is. I make sure the condition is clearly stated and let the buyer know what they're getting, so nothing is a surprise when they get it. It's what I expect when I buy something.

Good question. Pay them with a CC and go after them through the credit card company. Tell you story on the forum. Never do business with them again, and make sure everyone you talk to knows about it.

Well, I unfortunately have been burned by this same clown LIMETIME. But, for $1300!

He sent me a message about some drag stars he had for sale then started throwing in extras. "for $100 more ill throw in a set of slicks" "for $200 more ill throw in 42 # injectors and a throttle body".

He said he needed til the 8th to send them because he was going to buy brand new fronts with tires to send me. (shady) well no it's two weeks later and he won't respond to me. I am filing a dispute right now.. Can I get this guys personal info so I can kick his ass please?

We have a big community here with S197forum.com. If a member screws over another person it could be resolved via paypal or credit card. If that doesn't work then there is the possibility of getting the address for that person. Let me say something quickly on this. . . I'm not encouraging this but just stating the facts. If the address was known by other members that person may have a ton of issues soon to come. Its simple just don't screw over people. Not worth it and Karma will come for you double time. If someone screwed a member close to me in FL let me tell you I wouldn't take that lightly. Beware of the consequences that follow your actions.
