I have never seen that car lay a number down. They broke it at the line at KOTS.

And you haven't heard nothing about it since. They said we would see it run..but never have. I think it was more bragging they had they highest HP till evolution beat them and with just 1 power adder at that.

I went back and re-read that thread start to finish. Couple of things come to mind.

1. Never got the datalog answer so I am guessing no.
2. Did the owner always user 91/93 octane in the car?

This may have been that 1 in 60K kind of deal where there was a legitimate issue but as others have stated, we would all like to know what preceded it. It is unrealistic to think we will get all the info needed to review and some will take it at face value while other's will not.

Either way, back on the original discussion, 99% of 5.0 cars with ring land failures are caused by bad tunes.

You really should temper down. Not adding anything to your credibility.

I believe you and I have met in person before Dan. Dyno day last March at Colvin's? Does that ring a bell? The guy who tunes my car was with me as well and believe I put down the best 5.0 numbers of the day by a good margin.

It's your business if you want to run their tunes. I certainly will not be using them. If someone were to ask me which canned tune I would choose, it would be in order of:

1. Lund
2. VMP
3. Livernois

Notice no BBR or Bama on that list and I have my reasons.

I've looked at the BBR tune for both their hellion and their NA bolt on cars, holy shit lean. What a horrible tune.
Before you SCT expert tuners begin to ask how, learn what a j2534 device is. Or HPtuners can yank everything out and read the parameters. Your secrets arent safe.

I will say this, I find it funny how close to the SCT value file it is, that a lot of these shops "custom tunes" are.

Uh oh, did I just let a cat out of the bag.

I agree with WBT, Lund, Livernois and VMP all seem to have unique values.

Ya um ok.... http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67749

So in your words put in a catch can and your number 8 problems are gone.......

Did I say a catch can will fix number 8 problems....Obviously if you have ring land issues a catch car wont fix it.

On my car I had random smoke when I first start not all the time, Just randomly.
And when I let off the throttle after a WOT run it would have a quick little poof.
When I swapped to a Boss manifold I noticed a Shit Ton of oil in the runners and ports. When I got the catch can a short while after that all my smoking stopped.

How did this get turned into another Lund Bashing thread? Haters gonna hate I guess...
its the internet, everyone always has to shove their opinion down your throat, then come back and do it again, and again, and again...

My Lund tunes have been awesome. Before Lund, I used BBR and Bama. I've not had an issue with any of them except that my Lund tunes have had better #'s. But his tunes for non-F/I cars aren't the quickest.

My best seat of the pants tune and 1/8 mile tune? Amazon. And their customer service is awesome. Datalog your car, send it to them and they jump right on it. Examine your datalogs, ask you for more if needed and then revise your tune, if needed. By far, they have given the best, most attentive service out of everyone I've tried.

lol I cant believe some of you Lund nut washers have the nerve to complain about Lund bashing! all the Bama bashing that goes on on a daily basis, face facts that the almighty Lund has tunes on cars that lunched #8, its happened to pretty much every tuner out there, who the fuck knows what these numb skull drivers are doing to these cars.........I just chuckle each time I read Lund tuned #8 car, the excuses start flying, "oh the damage was done before the Lund tune....... blah blah blah blah

Was this thread about Lund tunes? No. Someone mentions they're having issues or questions about Bama or anyone else and there WILL be others saying how pleased they are with Company X and their tune. All it takes is for someone to mention Lund tunes and it seems like the fucking Batman sign just got flashed in the sky and all these assholes who don't even HAVE or RUN Lund tunes want to weigh in on the Lund "nut swingers."

Like Dave said, your irrational reaction whenever someone mentions their Lund tune totally discounts and nullifies anything you say. Perhaps if you were to reply with your experiences in using Lund tunes, if you have any experience that is, on a more professional level, without your emotions getting the best of you, you would actually contribute something to the thread.

I dont know how y'all get any support from Lund, he never would do shit for me. Tried to send him datalogs he blows them off saying I don't need to log his shit. Car ran like shit on his tune, then got off road pipe and ask for update he tells me its already set up. Really had cats on for original tune. Then get a boss manifold, ask for updated tune, once again tells me its already set up for that. Timing was at high 20's to low 30's at the top of the rpm range and showing knock pulling like 5 degrees. He tells me that's OK. Live link shows false knock.

Maybe all y'all guys that pay him 300 for a fi tune have better luck. But NA he don't give a shit about a 100 tune customer.

I paid $100 for a Lund Tune for my 5XR a few weeks ago..(xmas special)
Took it to Kurgans to be dynoed, had issues with the A/F, called Jon and he sent me another revision right then and there (5pm Friday) that fixed the car.
The next morning I data logged the car, sent him the info (Saturday afternoon) and he took a look at it and everything was fine.
I didnt pay for the extra support and he still took care of me.

Bama tune only from mike wilson 2011 a6 gt stock tires& weight [email protected]. A friend with Lund tune axle backs K&N drop in and 265/40/18 drag radials [email protected] basically same car base 2011 a6 gt. Cant get much closer than that. Results show both tunes must be very good. Unfortunately we have not run side by side or on the same day.

Different days can account for much. Dates/times/track and things like 60', 1/8th mile et/mph, etc.... Need all that to determine just how close. Without it's just bench racing.

So you could not explain that in the linked thread????? Everyone thinks you have a #8 failure and need a new engine….Then you have a buddy who has a #8 failure who could not post for over a week????? Sorry bro I think you owe an apology to everyone here..... They don't owe you SHIT..... You have ZERO credibility after that lame thread you started.... AND NEVER FINISHED!!!!!!

I would say to shop around. I've personally never dealt/ worked with or ordered from Lund, VMP, BBR or Bama. I've heard much more positive than negative in regards to Lund and VMP. I'm sure they're busy, the bigger you get the more demand you have and the less likely you are to help someone as quickly. I've heard much more negative than positive reviews on the tunes and sometimes customer service of BBR. I've had great encounters with BBR, they've been extremely helpful in answering any questions that I may have had.
It could be personality base too, I wouldn't want to help someone out if they acted like a dick over the phone, maybe that was the issue??
The only companies I have given my business to in regards to tuning has been Brenspeed and Amazon. Both have been incredible, my N/A tune from Brenspeed was great with zero issues and was spot on the first time. My F/I tune from Amazon is now dialed in and the driveability/ performance is everything that I wanted. I spent 8 hours with Rick (Amazon) on his dyno, all damn day until he was able to dial the tune in and he only charged me for an hour of his time.
Anytime I called Brenspeed or Rick and Linn at Amazon they've answered any questions I've had.
Actually I don't have any negative reviews on any company, I know its gotta be hard tuning these cars (especially the 5.0). I don't know much about it and many people on here act like they do so they try and bash these companies. If you don't like a specific place, go elsewhere.
