Belt Slippage

I just got an '06 with a Whipple HO. How do you know if the belt is slipping? Is it just signs of wear and tear on the belt, or when you get on it, will the car hesitate, bog, etc.?

look for the black dust on your pulleys. Watch your boost gauge---it the setup is supposed to give you 16 psi, and you only see 11 or 12, that could be an indication.

How much boost are you running and what belt set up do you have (6-rib? 8-rib?) What tensioner are you running?

6 rib, 3.125 pulley, 12psi. It's gotta be on the edge of slipping, but I honestly haven't seen any signs of it. I just want to know what to look for.

Get yourself an aftermarket tensioner for a little added insurance if you don't already have one. Won't be any fun if it throws the belt and leave you hanging. I went with the Thump RRR.

Mike, you're one to talk about going too fast! Don't worry, I PROBABLY won't be able to outrun you at the next track event. HA HA! As to the boost drop off, would the boost gauge just fall off a little, or would it be shaky?

Yes, it has a Kenne Belle tensioner. I may get a Reichard Racing Sure Grip pulley for a little extra grip without going full blown 8 rib. A lot less time and money.
