I wanted to know what would give me the most power through the powerband

4.10 Gears- with either Comp Cams NSR 127200 or FRPP Hotrod Cams
4.30 Gears- with either Comp Cams NSR 127200 or FRPP Hotrod Cams

The car is a weekend warrior N/A 5spd manual on street tires
Please give me opinions with 4.10 gears and 4.30 gears, and if you have dyno numbers that would be good as well

Put your fire suit on, it's going to get warm!

When N/A and a 26.5" tall tire I had 4.10's. With the same mods that you already have, I picked up 33whp and 11tq when I installed the FRPP cams. With your combo and the FRPP cams, I made 348/333. It also picked up power everywhere under the curve.

I would never go higher than 4.10's on a street car. Especially if you have any highway driving.

Well, this is only my opinion so I am not going to say it is best. You said you will be running street tires so you are already going to be fighting for traction regardless of which gear you go with. I have Nitto 555 275/35/20s(Hot Rods & 4.10s) and I can easily break the tires loose in second on the street. If you don't plan on running DRs than I would not go any steeper than 4.10s.

With that said, if you never(or VERY rarely) drive at HWY speeds (65+) I would highly suggest investing in a set of DRs and go with 4.30s. You will only he turning about 200 rpm higher at 60mph vs. the 4.10s. I never drive on the interstate/hwy and I wish that I would have gone with 4.30s instead of my 4.10s. The 4.10s are great but I just wish I had that little bit more oomph that I know the 4.30s would provide.

Good luck in whichever route you choose. I am sure some more experienced guys will chime in and give their opnions as well.

I think you will be happy with any of the choices. Regarding the cams, both are a good choice. FRPP is loper and and may sound better but the comps sound good as well. Both cams will give about the same amount hp/tq but the Comps are about $100 less. I got my cams from Brenspeed for $659 plus shipping.

you lose low end from the more lopey cams so a higher gear is important. at least 4.10's.
If its a DD 4.10's. weekend warrior go for 4.30's.

Nope, I picked up hp and tq every in the curve. The only thing I lost was 2 MPG.

Same here. I also got the same kind of power gains.

Edit: If you actually want the most power you can get you would go with more aggressive cams that require changing the springs as well. Also I agree that 4:10's for a DD or roadtrip car, 4:30's for a weekend or casual car.

I have basically the same mods as you will have (see sig). I picked up 39 rwhp with the cams and delete plates. I am at 333/323. This was after driving 1 1/2 hours to Brenspeed and then having it dynoed about 15 minutes later so no real cool down time. It was about 78 degrees out too. I have the 4:10's and wouldn't even think about 4:30's unless you are going to put a really good tire on. It is like I am on ice now most of the time but that is on stock tires. I really like my Hot Rod cams.

My car is a daily driver, (2010 GT with 18K miles on it) and I have 4.56 gears, 75 mph is 2,900 rpm in 5th gear, if you want a nice lopey idle the Hot Rods sound killer, even better then my 127500 comps,

I dont like either cam choice personally. I run comp 127300 and 4.10's

if you want some idle to go with your power try these....

http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=980&sb=0

I know guys claim power from hot rod cams but they dont perform at the tracks from guys I now personally here. Plus they complain bout how they suck in traffic.

A good friend has 4.30 and I have the 4.10 and he spins on the street where I hook and we both run DR's.

Its your choice though!

Maybe I will get myself some DRs instead of stepping down to 3.73s
