Soon to order a 2016 GT/CS convertible and was wondering about gears?? The car comes with 3.31 off the rack, but wondering if going with 3.55 or 3.73 would be better. I am just using the car for pure pleasure, not going to drive the shit out of it. Occasionally, I may have the need for speed, but that would only be to blow the cobwebs out.:whistle1:

So would going to 3.55 do anything for me? I think not, but looking for some opinions.

Thanx All

I'd personally go 3.73 those 5.0 like to rev and when your driving spearitidly you'll appreciate being right in the power band, 3.31 I'd only do if gas is a big concern

Meh, with the new six speeds just save your money for the supercharger.

Money doesn't go as far as it used to. Now imagine paying double that. That's where I am!

I have 3.55 gears with the MT82 manual and it's geared too damn short. Stick with the 3.31 gears.

3.73 for a full bolt on car// 3.55 for a power adder car. I'm using 3.55's, I feel like anything more aggressive will be useless with anything over 400wheel.

The MT82 is not geared like the older Tr3650 or Tr6060. First gear is really deep. I start out in 2nd most of the time. I hate having 3.55 gears with this transmission.

I had 3.73 gears on my Bullitt with the Tr3650 and then the T56 Magnum. With the 3650 is was pretty good but the T56 had a slightly taller first gear. I probably would have put 4.10 gears in that if I hadn't wrecked it.

3.31 gears with the MT-82 will be like 3.73 gears with the Tr3650 or 4.10 gears with the T56. You only need gears with the MT-82 if you plan on jacking it up and putting monster mudders on it.

T3650 trans . i had 3.55 with nitrous and it sucked ass , i since put in 3.73
and a procharger 420+ rwhp and i love the 3.73 , pulls all day long .
And 3.73 is a great all around gear , best of both worlds IMO .

I've been trying to make the point that the MT-82 is not geared anything like the older transmissions, and your experience with other transmissions does not equate to answering this guy's question about his MT-82. But I guess it's not very obvious so I'm going to make it obvious.

Anyone who has never driven or owned an MT82 will recommend gears because they don't know any better. Ignore them.

I have 3.31s and the gearing is very short with the MT-82. First gear is almost pointless. 3.73s would be annoying. Kind of like a second gen MR-2 where you shift into 4th before you even hit 60-70mph

skwerl explained it perfectly. The 2011 up cars auto or manual are geared differently than transmissions of years past. The mentality of well XXX gear worked in my fox body just doesn't apply here. But many can't seem to grasp that. One member here will tell you his 4.56's were perfect for his MT82.:shakehead:

My vote is for 3.31's.

I had 3.31 in my '11 MT Coyote and was always lusting for 3.73's to wake the car up. Now that my S550 has 3.73's I love every second of it. My DD Jeep has 4.10's so I'm rowing through six gears in about 10 seconds so constant shifting and shorter gears don't bother me much lol!

I'd say just test drive a Performance Pack so you know quickly and for sure it has 3.73's and see how you like the feel.

IMO I would spend the $$ on better tires. All the gearing and power in the world doesn't matter without sticky tires. I had 4.10s and hated it, went back to 3.55s and now going to 3.08s due to running out of gear at the track (road course).
