Anytime I’ve put camshaft in my car I’ve just gone to the local Ford dealer where I bought my Mustang and borrowed their valve spring tool. That’s the best kind free!

Some people had good luck with the Freedom Racing tool. I bought it and ended up using an old flathead screwdriver to pop the followers into place instead. You can only use it on about a third of the valves because of clearance issues unless you remove the engine from the car.

I’m building a new engine on a stand.
Thanks for the heads up.

the ford one, plus the fitting to put air in your cylinder so the valve doesnt drop, plus a little telescoping magnet to keep track of the valve keepers and a little grease to keep them in place on reassembly

I used this one the alpha moto valve spring compressor off Amazon. It worked good on the stock valve springs but was a pain to use it on comp springs I fought it a lot.

I changed the spring with the heads on the bench. But I used it to put the followers with the heads on

In a pinch made my own with a wood clamp 3/4" black pipe nipple and cap. Drilled and tapped into the clamp to hold the pipe pieces firmly in place. Cut windows in the nipple and the plastic cap on the screw section of the clamp is perfect for fitting onto the valve head. Ok for heads off work
