First of all, I think the choice is really individual as far as rim color. But, then again, I'm not looking to stand out. I put away the notion of 'showy' colors many moons ago. I prefer to be a bit more stealth these days so, my take on this subject may not register with many.
I believe, for example, that the stock rims on my car are a perfect match for the overall look of the car, I believe they blend well with the body style and color. My only beef with the rims is that I can't get them in a 19x10. They are black and silver.
However, if I may step outside myself for a moment and address the present situation with a bright yellow or even, red car, if it were mine and I chose a black rim, I would want a color accent added to the rim in the same color as the car, no matter what the color is out side of a black car. I believe a color accent would help blend the wheel with the car.
Choosing a silver, chrome or even gray rim on the other hand, has more to do with the rim style than with matching and blending IMO.
