Will have to disagree. Richmond and Strange both make a 3.90 and are good quality. Just about any gear will whine. My factory 3.73 has whine to it.

4.10 will require a shift into 5th which I think most will want to avoid. Only reason I am considering a move to the 3.90 is due to the Boss intake on the car. Those running a stock intake should stick with a 3.73. This is all based on a M6 car running 28" tires.

which is why im wanting to have the 3.90's installed over the 4.10's..if and when i do take the car to the strip i will be running 28" tall tires and dont want to make the shift to 5th. my stock 3.31 rear end has a whine on decell as of now. just put the 4.10's up for sale, and keeping an eye open for some 3.90's.

Auto w/ 4.10s

Something seems off here. If it's auto with a 4.10 gear and pulling in 4th, 118mph is only 7100 RPM even if it only has 26" tires. With a 28" it is only 6600 RPM. The curves look like more RPM than that though.

It really does seem JPC cams with the sock intake is the way to go if you can't afford the heads.

A SOLID 35RWHP gain is nothing to snort at.

I was trapping around 117.5 last time at the track. These cams just might bring me over 120

Im not sure if I am catching something here or not, but is there some issue with the integrity of the manual box and making shifts into 5th on the drag strip? TIA and sorry if it's a dumb question.

Are you sure? I have a tune and hit the limiter in the lower 120s or so I thought with my 3.73s?

I'm sure there is a calculator that has it broke down by ratios

With 255/40/19, 3.73's, and a 6sp

7250rpm is 42.71, 64.34, 92.49, 118.42, 156
7500rpm is 44.18, 66.54, 95.68, 122.50, 160

Thats for a stick though, whats the 4th gear in the autobox?

Both Bama and Steeda seemed to get pretty good results, while minimizing the mid range loss.

I will be doing a before/after dyno session march 26 and installing everything.

my 5.0 is 6 Spd manual, 3.73 gears, frpp sport axleback.

Baseline: frpp axle back, stock tuning, k&n drop filter.

Final run: +Boss 302 manifold, L&M 82mm throttle body, jlt cai, Bama 93 race tune.

I've been really happy with the Boss manifold so far. It definitely made the car so much smoother throughout the curve. We were able to go 11.64 with it N/A with just 4.10's and Off-Road X-pipe, Mickeys, Slicks/Skinnies and the L&M TB. Stock trans, stock converter, stock exhaust manifolds.

With 150 shot it went 10.43 @ 130. It definitely roars upstairs! From 5500 and up you feel it pulling hard!
