I tried to take a picture but it doesn't show up very well. I'm very OCD when it comes to my car. You really have to put your face into the steering wheel to see the fading.

Post a pic, and I'll put my face up to the screen

For the rear brake issue, it's under hard braking and light braking. The front have been making noise since 1,000 miles. The rears never made noise until about 2,500-3,000 miles. Like in my first post, I took a good look at the brakes and didn't see anything wrong. Sometime the noise sounds like it has a bad diff. This was my daily driver up until August 21st.
Hello Pope. I have a similar problem with my '08 GT auto front brakes. I had NAPA turn the rotors and I installed Hawk HPS pads. Now, after a couple of thousand miles, I'm hearing this out of round grinding noise coming from the front during stopping and the steering wheel is pulling again. Probably, the ABS is trying to correct for the out of round condition of the stock junky rotors. I will be installing new EBC slotted rotors this weekend.

Pulling brakes

I bought my car brand new back in May, 2010. I been having a problem with the brakes and it starting to get to the point where it's pissing me off. The car currently has 5,200 on her. When you apply the brakes, the fronts squeak and the rears make a grinding noise almost like its metal to metal. In the beginning of August, I removed all the wheels and inspected the brakes. All the pads and rotors are in good shape with normal wear for a car with 5,000 miles. I'm gonna make an appointment and bring it in to Ford to have it checked out plus there are other things I need to address with the car that I'm not happy with. This is my first brand new Mustang and it's already giving me problems. :-(
Hey Pope, I just installed new EBC slotted rotors on the front of my '08 GT and it fixed my front brake pulling problem. After having my old rotors turned and installing Hawk HPS pads, the stock rotors warped up again to a .005-.008 out of round condition after a couple of thousand miles. The limit is .003 out of round. FYI for anyone just installing the HPS pads, they will overheat and warp the stock rotors. May as well figure on putting on premium rotors with the performance pads.

Well everyone, after 1,500 miles after getting the new pads and rotors cut all around, the noise came back and it's worse this time around. Bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow. I'll keep everyone up to date. Also have to get the shifter handle replaced as well. The color on it is starting to come off just like what happened to my steering wheel. :-\

I have the same rear squeal from light braking. I took it to Ford and they told me that the rear disc has a little rust on it so that could the problem. I later found a TSB on this forum the states that the lining on the rear brake pad is the possible culprit. Im just going to get some HAWKS or sumpting good.

Do you happen to have the link to the TSB? I'm getting both front and rear brake noise. I tell ya, I been having nothing but problems with is car. I say call it a lemon, collect all my money, and get a 2011 :-D

Well, here is an update. I brought the car back to the dealer for my brake issue plus other things. The tech who has been great and knows his mustangs, Couldn't find anything wrong. I guess when he drove it, it dodn't make noise this time. So I'm thinking I might have to bite the bullitt and buy aftermarket brakes. With that being said, they are also replacing my shifter handle due to the color fading like the steering wheel did, replacing the rear axle vent as per TSB and the driver's side rear headliner pin. And to top it off, I just ordered my Roush Offroad cat-back exhaust. :-D

Hey Pope. As I stated in post #24 above, the stock Ford rotors and pads are junk, except for the GT500 with Brembos. I just installed EBC slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads on my '08 GT and my brake issues went away. Summit Racing had the best deal on them, just make sure you break them in per the installation instructions.
