Did not read about it but this is cyl #1, how are the rest of the plugs and pistons?

The damage on the plug was too massive to reflect melting due heat.

The rest of the plugs and pistons were happy. This is cyl #1

What would cause this.

If you ask me, the valve just gave up and broke. Cause? I don't know.

If this was a heat issue, the plug melt until it can't work anymore valve will hold A LOT more heat than the plug, think you had stock heads/valves and these are inconel, they can stand A LOT of heat.

Sincerely it does not look a tune issue to me, cylinder 1 is not one of the usual suspects. RH are more prone, 6-7-8 are the usual ones and result will look different than yours.

I would inspect cam, follower, even VCT (don't know if you were locked or not)

Now, you initial reports after getting tuned, yes they were tune issues, but I can't see a correlation between both.

Also, you don't need a return system to make your car work.

Thanks Dave. I already have the parts on order. Just need help dropping the motor back in. Can't line up the tranny shaft and clutch alone.
I figure by next weekend I will be running again.

I got my injectors tested, all were perfect. It was suggested that I had a faulty valve, unlikely do to them being factory and lasted this long. Another suggestion was that it appeared the valve had been "cut" with a saw. Why would anyone do this?? And yet another reason that was thrown out there was that the wiring was wrong!!! That last one stung me a lot!! Out of everything done to the car, the one thing I am 1000% sure is perfect, is the wiring.
I could go into how I impedance, continuity, resistance tested every line, or go into what wire was used. But man that burned my ass when that was mentioned. All fingers were pointed at something I did, that is what made me upset.
Cant do anything about it now, just need to move forward and learn from it. Will keep updates as they happen, if any.

I have to get a pic of the valves, one is broke clean off and one intake looks like an "S".

My piston came in yesterday, but was the wrong one, the relief was on the wrong side, dammit. What next.

here are some pics of the valves. There was one good intake, one that is bent and the exhaust valve is just a stub.

Car is back up and running, sort of.

It still has the same issues as before, The car is in for paint now at least it will look good sitting there not running.

Different fuel system, Walbro single 400 with BAP. Also, I was informed that the ba500 MAF was too much for a 4" intake tube.
Maybe have to build a new 3.5" intake.

I've have heard that before, uhmmm, who said that, can't recall, lol.

A MAFia+stock would be the simplest solution.

Nice to know car is back on the road. Heading to L&M or Evo?

Going to L&M at the end of the month.

Figures after I sell my Mafia. I do have the maf that came with the KB kit. and also my stock one.

Looking into cost for doing a new intake in 3.5" vs the MAF needs. The car runs great above 1800 but below that, it misses and farts and goes lean. Plenty of fuel pressure.

Going to be fun to see what happens, not like I built a monster.

I picked up a set of new HT0 plugs to take with me to the tuner at the end of the month.
I never checked the gap on the plugs that I pulled out of the car that the other tuner installed. Well, after going through all 7, only 2 were at .030 the others were .015,.020,.025,.035,.040. Yep, made me feel great knowing that they cant even gap a plug. The plugs that I had in there were brand new brisk and were properly gapped.

Oh yeah, and still no data logs.

Still looking for a MAFIA, or maybe lund can tune with my ba5000.

that's pretty inconsistent for the gaps, some can and will change one in use, but that's a big spread of gaps

I know that there will always be a slight difference, bit this is ridiculous.

I am going to call them again for my logs, if I get nothing then there will be a thread made to warn everyone.

Not that the logs matter now, I just want them to show to some people that can interpret them.
