How stiff are the springs in your MGW? Can you really slam gears in it? Also, how is it for casual driving? I am on the fence of ordering one right now. I can't decide if I want to go "all out" with the MGW or just get a Barton 2-post bracket and call it a day

I bought mine used from another member here. Still, it was a bit tight at first. Within 300-400 miles though, it loosened up so to speak. Now, it has broken in completely and I wouldn't go back to the stock shifter for nothing. One of the local guys here who has the Barton bracket on his stock shifter is happy with it. We drove each others cars and now he's looking to get the MGW. I could shift his car fast, but I still got the 3rd gear grind/miss at times when power shifting. I don't power shift often. More of a light lift shift. But in the following video, I power shifted from 1st to 2nd and had no issues at all whereas my stock shifter would of locked me out of 2nd trying that.

Notice that I have my PHB adjusted perfectly. No sudden direction change even though you see a good bit of smoke being generated from the tires spinning hard by power shifting into 2nd.




In this video, I do a light lift shift from 1st to 4th. You will notice the ease with which I shift. Using just two fingers is completely doable even though I'm shifting somewhat hard. The shifter almost anticipates what gear I want and pops right into it with the MGW. I go from 15mph to 105mph.



Not everyone has had my same experience with the MGW. However, I wonder if they gave it enough time to break in good and/or called MGW and asked them how to adjust it. I will tell you this though. If you buy a new one, the amount of sound deadening material they send with it simply isn't enough. No additional vibration at all, but if you don't have some Dyna-Mat to really insulate the are of the shifter, you will get road/transmission noise increases.

On my car, only things I had to have for daily happiness....

-LED Dome lights
-GT500 mufflers
-Factory Sirius install, my car is base and Sirius wasnt available. But the button and everything was setup on radio for it. So got the factory box for the radio, had a local shop install it and now has Sirius radio like would from factory. Just I had my antenna installed on my dash for a cleaner look.

Only other thing I would like to add is take the summer only tires off for a good set of all seasons.

For me the car has quite comfortable cloth seats. Have taken it from NJ to FL twice and a great car inside and out for being mostly stock.

I put a set of these in my '13 GT from day 1, just to keep the interior carpet and floor mats nice. Not just good for winter, but rain, dirty shoes, etc. I will never own another car without them. They are friggin' awesome!

Seriously, if your interior carpet is still nice, and you don't have a set of these already, go get some now, and you can thank me later!

I gotta get me a set of those. These Ford all weather mats do NOT stay in place very well. I recently had a scary experience with the damned thing making my gas pedal stay floored.

Weathertech mats! I leave mine in all year, the stock mats will look nice as fuck when I go to sell or trade the car.

Window tint. Go to a good shop, and ask them to sand the dots on the 1/4 windows before they tint it, or it will get that dumb looking line around the dots. I always recommend getting the best film possible, as it is something you look at and through every time you drive. I got the sides done in 55% and the windshield in 80%. The car cools off so much faster in the summer sun than before. Plus, it's way easier to convince a passenger that nobody else will see.

Not exactly a mod or enhancement, but I use fuelly to track my mileage. Link is my sig, while it seems frivolous to keep track like I do, it helps determine when a problem occurs. My VW dropped like 4-5 mpg for a few tanks before the engine went. I cared so little about it when it happened, I started to throw money in savings towards a down on a new car instead of fix it.
It's also a nice thing to hand to the new owner if you sell the car private party. I know I would be stoked as balls to see somebody that tracked fuel economy on every tank, and had all records of oil changes and service history from a dealer. Car might have higher mileage, but it's been taken care of since day one.

What has “made” your Mustang a more enjoyable, more comfortable commuter?

The very first thing that made my '08 a better DD was to disable the damn clutch pedal starter interlock. Lift my left foot even 1 mm off of "buried as far into the carpet as possible" and the starter would shut off. Being pissed off at your car before it's even running is no way to start your commute, drive, or trip.

After that, it's been the performance suspension mods and wider "3-season" wheels and tires. Koni yellows, Strano sta-bars, and Currie rear LCAs so far. They support the way I want the car to feel as I'm driving it, and I don't want to be too far insulated from that.

Most recently, I'd add the HP+ front pads to the list, except that since I'm basically retired I don't necessarily have to drive any of our cars on any given day any more. Yeah, HP+'s are dusty, they do squeal a bit (my wife hears more of that than I do), and they're abrasive (rotor wear). But they stop like no other pads I've ever used on any car before.


I guess what I really want (and always have now that I stop to think about it a bit) is a road race car "de-modified" just far enough to be considered reasonably streetable.

Im on the fence about an off road x but I think ill leave it until it gets supercharged. As it is right now my car is a comfortable and quick daily. Don't really "need" much else but sc whine would be nice.

If I might ask, how much did the Sirius box set you back and how much of a PITA was it to install? I'm kind of missing it in the Mustang (have it in the other car & the previous car).

whats this about the gt500 steering wheel? ive kind of been bugged by my gt wheel in that the spokes are wide and gets cold.

I dd mine I'm sure my neighbors hate It when I start it up to lol but as mentioned Bluetooth pandora etc all make for a more enjoyable driving experience but personally I just love the sound of ten car over everything else

The front driver's side lca bushing had slid out of it's sleeve. I replaced the upper and lower control arms with steeda units. Best money I spent so far. The car is as smooth as can be. Also on the list,

American Muscle white shifter knob (feels way better than the stock one)

The Outlaws aren't exactly an improvement they drone at 2000rpm. Which is ends up being where I cruise at most of the time. 60mph, 75mph. I may resolve that issue with a gear adjustment in the future.

Get an X pipe. It will help big time. Won't totally eliminate the drone, but holy hell does it make it sound that much better.

Well I'm getting my windows tinted this Tuesday, touchscreen stereo, already have the best factory option in my car for the year but I'm gonna upgrade the speakers next and maybe put a better set of subs in the rear. full exhaust, tuner and intake, so my car sounds pretty while I drive it, and can beat stock cars wheels and tires as well, and having a different winter set, and suspension is next on my list! Gotta look good and sound good while you're cruisin, and gotta have good jams!

For me tint is a major one. I have 5% all around except windshield cause I can't stand people seeing me lol

Then my amr wheels with sumitomo tires seem to have cut down on road noise. Next mods will be sound tube delete and sound deadening to further quite the car(it seems loud compared to my trucks)
