Regardless of vehicle I am in, I just put it where ever there is room and it won't fly off to some unreachable location. Usually just lay it on the seat next to me or stick it in a cup holder. I don't look at my phone when I'm driving. If I get a text or the phone rings, I see if it's my wife. If it is I respond, otherwise I ignore till I stop someplace.

Magnetic mount with a 360 degree ball to be able to rotate it or lean it back to where I want it. Works great. I have one in all me vehicles and my phone just has the thin metal round plate stuck on the back of the case. Don't even notice it.

Mine stays in my right front pants pocket when doing everything, including driving. If I get a call or need to make a call, my Nav System BT connects and it's always hands free, so it stays in my pocket.

If I'm out of the car walking and don't want to pull out the phone, I use my Apple Watch.

Reviving this thread since I found a decent one that mounts to the cigarette lighter:

Scosche Magnetic Phone Mount for Car, USB Cigarette Lighter Adapter with Phone Holder, 12V Socket Plug-In, Adjustable Arm, Secure Magnet Grip, Built-In USB Charger for iPhone & Android Cell Phones

It's pretty hard to find a good mount for the cigarette lighter, most of them seem to have long arms for cigarette lighters that are down at the base of the center console. I did find a few with short arms on eBay and Amazon but they looked sketchy as hell (like they were going to burn out after a week, crack, or just catch fire). This one though is from a reputable brand and is pretty decent quality.

It attaches with a magnet and a metal plate that you either stick to the back of the phone, the case, or like I did, between the phone and the case. I've been over bad enough bumps to bottom out the suspension and the phone hasn't fallen (as long as you line the metal plate up right)

Few catches here:
1) It doesn't come with the USB cable (USB-A to whatever your phone takes)
2) It fits pretty snug in the cigarette lighter, but the lighter socket itself has some wobble, so the phone can bounce/move around a bit when you're on rough roads. It's not too bad though.
3) It doesn't fast charge. You can't expect to run navigation and charge your phone up from 0 on an hour commute. It will keep up and charge even w/ the screen at 100% and Waze & Spotify running but it's going to take a while to make real headway.

Oh and in case you were wondering what car they made this for...
