Great! So does that mean the metal flake was just break-in shavings?

Metal flakes was metal that the timing chain... "chain sawed" through my timing cover. .. head... chain arm after it broke. Etc etc... that chain looks like it was busy.

The only trick to pulling the transmission is getting the ears to clear the tunnel. You can clock the transmission or lower the k member to get around it.

If you have the SC on, engine doesn't tip enough with the K Member loosened, at least in my case w/prothane mounts and whipple - I ended up going the route needed when removing a Supra trans - separate flywheel and pressure plate (pretty easy to access) it gives the extra 3-4 inches of clearance needed.. Not sure how that would have helped going back in, however as the TR6060 fit in much better than the 3650 did..

You think of ceramic coating the bottom of the pan? I had my old one wrapped in dei but wonder how the two would compare..

I thought about it... let me tell you this... I have a 69 dodge charger with a big block and hooked long tubes....
They are uncoated and had "header" paint and fiberglass header wrap on them and it heat soaked my mini starter so bad that when I got gas it had to sit for 20+ minutes to get it to start again.

So I ceramic coated the headers... no heat wrap. .. and i have 0!!! Heat soak issues :)

Those headers went to Jet Hot or a similar outfit? That's how they look so good. Huh.

sand blast
prebake
let cool
shake ceramic paint cause it likes to seperate really fast...
put ceramic liquid in a blender for 20-30 minutes to really blend well/get it hot.
carefully spray part with ceramic paint.
let dry... goes from baby puke green to a grey.
bake at 500* for an hour... surface temp.
let cool
polish in a vibratory polisher or by hand
