CHE still in business?

I see their website still up but I saw one or two threads that talk about them no longer being in business. What's the word on CHE these days?

I had communication with Chuck a couple of months ago. Give 'em a call or shoot them an e-mail. Sometimes they are extremely busy and don't answer but you can leave a message for a call back.

I actually didn't check by calling them yet since they were closed before I started looking at some of their stuff. Sounds like they are still kicking!

No, had a very bad experience with their LCA's, and got screwed out of money and the guy would not help me. He had numerous excuses.

I'd rather not call out a Vendor here, so if you want the details, I can PM you. Otherwise, if the mods are ok with it, I can post up what happened.

Long story short.

I bought some LCA's a while ago for my 07 GT (G/F's car at the time)

They looked like a great product, and I got a great deal on them.

Driving home after work, something in my rear end snapped and the car would barely move. I was only a few blocks from home, so I limped the car home, parked it in the garage.

I come to find that the LCA completely snapped at the welds and my Axle was hanging. I was very lucky nothing damaged my rear end.

Here is what they looked like.

I sent them to Chuck, explained what happened. He was very receptive at first. I spent 20 bucks to ship them to him for him to "analyze". I wait a good week before hearing from him, and he responding stating that this was not a mfg issue. He said I was missing parts. I asked what parts, and he said the metal retaining rings. I said they were installed in the bushings with the LCA's. He said they were not there. Well, my pictures say otherwise. Then he said that these were not probably greased. Then I was told they were not properly installed.

So, after some back and forth, he said the best he can do is 30% (IIRC)

So, that is why.

This is not bashing Che. This is pointing out a bad experience they refused to rectify.

PLEASE NOTE - My post is not bashing CHE, or Calling that vendor out. I have respect for CHE, no matter how my situation ended. Bad experiences happen, and I chose to politely step back from it.

Well it is obvious that water got in there, and rusted it, One part of the weld cracked and it started to rust. I would never use that style LCA on a street car, I use the boxed steel style. With out grease fittings, that style needs to be removed and greased up yearly, Just my .02 from many years of experience. These parts have limited warranty , so depending on how long you had them, i would say a 50% discount would be fair. No service parts carry a 100% warranty.

The funny thing was, he didn't mention water as any cause. He also said that these LCA's should not break unless they were defective.

I told my friend with a 98 Cobra what happened, and he said it was bullshit. Just two weeks before I had my incident, he had a pair of CHE LCA's that snapped at the track. Sure enough, without an "investigation" CHE sent him a new pair within 2 days.

Also, water will get into any control arm. That's physics. They should be made to withstand certain environment effects, and not break after hitting a bump in the road.

It was not really nice to hear that I would have to pay over $100 bucks for a new pair. If I was indeed offered 50% off, I would have most likely bought a new pair.

If you install another set make sure that you do the following, get the special poly clear grease,it will keep the water out. Coat all the surfaces of the bushing in and out. Also coat the bolt with anti-seize so it will not seize to the inner metal sleeve. and for street use get billet or box steel.

I am actually looking at getting a different style, maybe UPR's or Metco's.

I have J&M on the G/F's car, and so far, no issues at all.

Why do you not like adj lca's? Got to have some type of adjustment

I don't have a problem with adjustables, but For a DD the adjustable are not necessary and noisy, if you need adjustment, get an adj, UCA, They come with poly bushing on both ends are quite and mud, salt, and crap will not get all over the adjustments.
