Cleaned the GTA's (added pics)

Well,I have Ford Racing GTA mufflers and when i put the car up to do suspension work i noticed both muffler casings were cracked really bad from metal fatigue where the hangers are welded. I really like the GTA's and honestly did not want to purchase a new set.So i got them fixed by welder who did an awesome job but they came out all like blued and stained by heat........took a wire brush to welds and wet sanded everything with 600 then 1500 and finally gray fine scotchbrite all with warm soapy water......came out pretty good.

Do you have before pic of the cracks? My exhaust started squeaking only when hot right before I put it away for winter storage and I didnt see anything glaring (was looking for rubbing).

Awesome job! I have a set of GTB's that I removed and I might do this too. They are in really good shape so they should clean up as nice as yours...hopefully.

Mine were cracked at each end of OEM welds through all layers of flange....vibration from the hangers being welded on flanges only caused metal fatigue....try to shake hangers and if they seem loose they are probably cracked....

Cleaned the mid pipes too....took a wire brush on a grinder and gray scotchbrite with warm soapy water.....
