Clunking Noise

When I have the car in drive and the foot on the brake at a stop, I get a clunk when I release the brake. It doesnt do it when accelerating on the move. Any ideas?

Is it an auto? just slop in the driveshaft most likely.

Yes it is an auto. Funny thing is i have to be stopped for a few seconds or more before I get the clunk. If I only stop for a second or two it does not make the noise.
