Here are the deatils,

Pulling some low 1.7's I figured to lower lower the tire pressure down from ~21 psi to 18psi. Had three passes in ~mid 40 degree temps with 15-20mph winds in about an hr in half. The last attempt after dropping to 18psi I pulled a 1.65 60' and shifted to 2nd gear, all things good to go until making the shift to 3rd. That was when the car would not go into 3rd gear...no gear. So I coasted to the first pull off and pulled the car over in the return road. No smell. No fluid leak. The clutch peddle went soft at the third gear attempt and stayed that way. Ocassional after a long cool down it tried to engage but no success. Thought the slave fluid might have gotten to hot, or clutch. Any way, I was able to start the car in first and get it home shifting at low rpm to 5th gear. No noise at failure or the trip 100 miles home on interstate. Inspected the bell housing hole and there was some dog hair looking material plug in it about the half the size of your palm. The peddle feels strong but no engagment inorder to shift.

There is no slippage of clutch when accelerating.
The clucth is a Centerforce DFC rated at 400rhp and torque.

Got any ideas?

Hum...had a thought. Could the slave unit hydrolic oil "brake oil" got hot enuff to boil inducing air into the line? Ifso, could self bleeding by raising the driver side up a few inches remove the air? Kinda feels like after you install a new clutch and the peddle and line need bleed.
