I am positive my clutch isn't going to last much longer. About to put 8psi to her and the stock clutch has 76k miles on it.

My question. Would a new, OEM, clutch and slave hold at all at that power level (Goal is 460RWHP for now) ? With all the issues with just about every brand of clutch I wonder if it is worth considering blowing through OEM clutches at a lower price then deal with the issues of the aftermarket clutches available.

OEM clutch would definitely not hold for long (maybe a few months), it just depends on how you drive it and if you go to the quarter mile strip much, but the slave would hold. I have a centerforce dfx and it has held for like 3 yrs or more and every single one of those miles has been supercharged miles @ 440+whp and I was 20 when I got blown :). For the last 5k it's been at my current level. This clutch is bad ass IMO and it feels so stock its not even funny.

My experience was the stock clutch couldn't hold after I went to 408rwhp.

Ask Red_Baron06 how his has been holding up. He has been at 480 for a month or two and I think it's already starting to slip lol

It'll be fine if you drive like you have a vagina.

FWIW I had a Spec 3+ in my 06 for about 8000 miles a took it to the track multiple times. 

I had 420 hp at the tires for a few months before it started to go.
Clutch only had about 25K miles.

Stuck between RXT and Spec Stage 3+. I'm think the 3+ just because I like that fact that its more simple. Then just get my flywheel resurfaced and a new OEM TOB.

I'd go Mcleod or Exedy.

You can do searches and find SO many horror stories with SPEC on these late model stangs.

I myself experienced a nightmare with a 2+.

Oh and the SPEC customer service blows in my opinion.
Ask others too.
Any problems and they try to throw the blame on you.
They dont take crap for responsibility if you ask me and they left me and many others I talked to cold in the water, and up a creek with no paddle when the problems came. Which was right from the moment of install.

My opinion and I'd say a good percentage of people's opinions here is that SPEC is GARBAGE on these Mustangs.
Some people here have had luck with them but if they don't have problems that's just what I'd say it was.... pure luck.

sorry you had issues Blacksmoke, however if you do that search you'll see there are hardly any issues with the 3+, the 3+ has proven to be a stout clutch with nary a failure.

the 2+ is know (for reasons unknown) to have been a crappy clutch choice on the S197 platform.

I've had my spec 3+ in my car for 13k miles now with any issues. As long as the place that's installing it does a good job you should be fine. Be sure to put a new OEM slave in at the same time.

I just put in a Exedy Mach 500. It's a great clutch with OEM drivability. I've heard too many horror stories with Spec, so I'd steer clear.

Me too I have read alot of bad shit about the spec. I have also read plenty of good things. It seems to me that it is luck of the draw with that lol. I guess like my centerforce, ppl have had trouble with it but I have had it for like 50k miles and it is still strong even at 500whp

I have heard the 3+ has alot more success.
But I won't buy from SPEC anymore.
I was treated like complete garbage from them.

I could not BELIEVE the way I was spoken to.
This was every damn time I spoke to the except ONE time when a guy finally admitted the 2+ was receiving complaints.
Hell.. they prolly canned that guy just for being honest haha.

They do NOT stand by their product when things go wrong in my opinion. I know they did not when it came to me
and some others I know.
Their warranties are as good as a piece of used toilet paper as far as
I'm concerned.

Go on this and other forums and you can easily find out there are MANY people with my same opinion.
Not just about the 2+.... but about their customer service, the way they treat people, and the way they honor their warranties.

I have heard of those CS complaints and I cannot justify those actions if the are factual.

I have the Exedy 500 and love it. Pretty much any aftermarket clutch is going to be cheaper than a stock clutch. From what my tuner told me, Ford raised the price of those things to about $600.
