Here are a couple of pics of one of the Weld XP series wheels that I have.

As you can see there is no inner wheel lip to be found. This combine with how the wheel spokes on inboard of the wheel hub face gives these wheels tremendous clearance for the caliper face as well as the top of the calipers.

Here are some pictures of the Greg Weld Dragstar 15x8 5.5 BS

As you can see they have a big inner lip where the diameter of the inside of the wheel shrinks by a good 1/2" This is why these wheels will NOT work at all on my car. There is no way I am going to grind the top of the caliper as it is where all the structure and strength to the caliper comes from. The 15x10's that are on a fox body in the shop has this same lip but it is near the inner face of the wheel spokes. That you might be able to grind the front of the caliper and get away with it but since they only come in a 6.5BS max they would still stick out past the wheel wells by at least 3/4" of an inch.

I guess we could always just fred flintstone it and just get rid of the brakes to make any wheel fit!!! That sucks that we cant get them to work without a great deal of grinding. I know im gonna have to but I dont wanna take it to the extreme just to make a wheel fit. Like I said before, the jegs just keep looking better and better. I can deal with the tire bulge out the side a bit, nothing real bad, but I think they look good on the cars. The Greg Welds look awesome on the car but just not worth the time nor money to have to butcher the poor brake calipers in the back.

So heres a thought. 1 piece cast wheels shouldnt have that shrinking inside diameter where a 2 piece rim is joined together. Thus THIS WHEEL Summit SUM-521-5866PS should fit.
And you know whats really cool? they make a 17x8 that matches. Street setup!

Just as expensive if not more than the Bogarts and Holeshots. We need a wheel that fits but costs less

they are about the same price, but he said he would give special pricing on a full wheel combo. at least these are designed for street use, that was my biggest concern.

I have another question. Who decided on a 10" wheel why 7.5 is the correct backspacing? The reason im asking is because generally, any aftermarket 18X10 wheel has in the vicinity on +45mm offset. Little math and that comes out to 7" backspacing. Is anyones aftermarket 18's sticking out? no. Is it that with a big 28" tire the rim needs to tuck more?

Here is my math.

Weld XP 15x9 5.5BS will physically bolt onto our cars and clear the brakes no problem. On my car they still out at least 3/4" passed the wheel well NOT counting the tire. Now make that a 15x10 and add 1 inch of backspace to equal 6.5 to cover the width increase and you are still looking at sticking out 3/4". Now add that 3/4" to the backspace to tuck the wheels flush and you have a 15x10 7.25BS Add a 1/4" for good measure and that is where everyone is coming up with the 7.5BS numbers front.

This is one reason you need a 7.5 backspace......

Here is a pic with a 7" backspace....The 7" backspace wheel is NOT INCORRECT!!!!! Just some people like myself don't like how they stick out.....So, some can tolerate the tire sticking out a bit, some can't....No one made the decision that it HAS TO BE a 7.5" backspace....It is mainly a looks thing....

Nothing wrong with this pic....This car is a member, and it looks awesome!!!!!

klei, I don't think those Centerline's would look too bad with the Draglite's....Kind of like how the Alumastar's were....

Chris and yellowgt - Thank you. Fantastic responses. Im sure it would lead to disaster but im so tempted to get the 7" and do a little fender massaging. Cuz that black car does look beautiful.

Klei - Those are m/t pro street radials. Theyre awesome cuz they come in standard drag tire sizes, with full depth street tread. Not cheap tho.

One question, with a 15x10 7.5 BS will a 325/50/15 clear width wise? I'm hell bent on running those on the street/strip. Most likely M&H

The M&H 325/50-15 should fit no problem on a 10" wheel. It has an 11.0" tread width and 12.4" section width, which is not much bigger than the 325/45-17s (10.3" and 12.1") that I run on a 9" wheel. I was running the M/T 28.0/11.5-15 slicks (which are 11.0" and 12.9") on the 15x9.75 Bogart without any clearance problems.

Cool. Now here is an update I got Yesterday. I talked to Billet Specialties and they don't know when/if they will be able to get a 15" rear wheel to fit because of the Calipers. According to the guy I talked to they F-body wheels with the right bolt pattern won't work either. Then I talked to another place who is selling the Weld R/T wheels. He can get a 15x4 skinny for $379/wheel and a 15x10 rear for $399/wheel. This includes lug nuts and hub caps and free shipping. The guy said that he normally sells 15x10 6.5 BS for S197's and I explained that wouldn't be ideal and he can get the 15x10 7.5BS as well. 4 week lead time.

Anyone found better than $1556 shipped for the R/T wheels lugs and hubcaps? I hate to pay that much for a wheel but at least they are DOT approved.

05yellow, that is about the cheapest you will find....Performance By Fisher quoted me $1480 shipped, but I will have to call and ask if that was with lugnuts and caps, which I doubt it was....
