I know I need something that looks like cats b/c of the mirror, but since the rear o2's can be turned off, it's irrelevant whether or not the car has cats. When a scan tool is hooked up to the obd port and checked for readiness, the o2's should show ready. This is as simple as changing a "0" to a "1" in the correct table once the ecu address is found. I have always open source tuned, so I modded the ecu's tables myself through xml on a laptop. I'm guessing sct and diablo take a lot of the advanced features away (haven't bought on for my gt yet), but it would be nice to know if we can force the o2 readiness for emissions.

Actually this is not true, it depends on what state. You can only get away with that trick in a few states anymore.

With the o2's ready, but no cats, would it actually pass the test. It doesn't just look for readiness, correct?

Depends on which state. For TX, not sure. Since a stock midpipe bolts right up to our kit, I think it would be much easier to just put a stock pipe on and ACTUALLY pass instead of trying to cheat. lol

You're right, it would depend on the state the vehicle is registered in. For me, on obdII vehicles all they do is a mirror under the car and hooking up to the obdII for codes/readiness. We have no treadmill test for obdII vehicles.

Since a lot of hfc's cause the threshold/ etc codes, it would probably be easier to just have the electric cutouts like someone mentioned they would have on their dp's. Were you the one that was going to offer this? Also, I like your idea of the dp's bolting to the stock midpipe, which is why I'll be going with your kit early next year.

MD does the same thing. No sniffer, just visual and plug in. I will have emissions in October, but I will prob just end up bolting up the stock midpipe

That's not what I meant. In many states they are doing the plug in test different to detect shutting off the switches. Same type test you are talking about but will fail.

You can turn off all the monitors and have them all come up N/A. That's a pass.

Right, that's the difference. They come up NA and Texas is ok with that. A lot of other states are not allowing "NA", they will fail you for that. They must read "Ready"

Here are more detailed pics of how our intercooler mounts. Uses existing holes, no drilling required.

When do you get the car back? I'll be in Ocean City toward the end of the summer, I'd love to take a detour or meet up and see it.

I know with the LSX cars you can just set the catalyst test parameters to unobtainable numbers so the rear o2 is on and functioning but it will never trip without cats. So when plugging in, the scanner reads ready and no codes found.

I used to do this often with HPT.

That's a good idea. I wonder if this can be done with the sct tuner program.
