Last night I was removing my crank pulley so I could get the timing cover off. The 3 jaw I was using wouldn't bite on the spokes of the pulley, so I just grabbed it by the outer ring. Should I be concerned reinstalling this pulley? I'd hate for it to separate because I was pulling on it. The ring looks fine, just want to double check before I get it all back together.

If the rubber is not bulging or anything it should be fine.

Its not bulging, but it looks like its slightly uneven. You wouldn't even notice unless looking closely. Not sure if it was like that before or after, since its only in one spot.

As long as you have it off why not put a quality balancer on there.

Because I have a cold air intake, cams, and a tune. I'm also not made of money, so if the stock is working fine, I'll stick with it. If you'd like to fork over the cash for an IW and have it overnighted, I'll be happy to accept it. :D

You asked for opinions I gave you mine ,I take a part off I always try and put a better part on. No need to crack wise.

I wasn't cracking wise, so don't get upset. I was just teasing. Not everyone can just afford to plunk down an extra $500 for a balancer, I'm just looking to see if anyone thinks mine is bad or needs to be replaced. If you want to send me an IW balancer, I would be happy to install it. Very nice looking balancer, just not in the cards right now.

I think Dorman or someone makes them for $35 or so new. I have a part number for a 8 rib somewhere that is cheap.

I need a 6 rib. Have you run the dorman personally? Dealership wants $100 for one and can have it for me Wednesday. I'm still in the air about replacing it, seems no one has too much experience with this situation

I haven't run the Dorman but a lot if people have. I can't imagine it's any lower quality than a Steeda UDP. They are sure to have a 6 rib. I just don't know the part number.

We probably have a stock one and I would give it to you for the cost if shipping but it would be a few days to find it and get it out.

I appreciate the offer, but I can't wait that long. I've gotta be on the road Thursday morning at the latest. Im leery of aftermarket balancers aside from the more expensive brands. I've heard they don't usually work as well as stock. I think at this point I might as well just go get a new one. $100 isn't worth damaging my engine. Hopefully I can find a bolt to install it with too, Home Depot skipped right over it.

It looks fine to me. Even the new ones will have some waviness in the rubber liner between the inner and outer sections.

I getcha, I'm from the school of better safe than sorry too. How close do you live to Summit. Thy have ARP bolts. You won't find that bolt from anyone but the dealer of ARP. It's a goofy thread size. 12 or 14mm fine I think.

I have a bolt from the dealership, but I need a longer one to pull it back on the crank. I believe it's M12x1.25

Use your old bolt to draw it on the crank. You can gently tap it on with a hammer as long as you keep it square and don't bind it up or force it until you have it on far enough for the bolt to grab.

I might have to do that. No work tomorrow, so I'll hit a few stores and see if I can find a bolt in the right size. I didn't have much time to poke around today.
